Some Easter Eggs in 2007. *Sniff* we didn’t color any yesterday but you better believe we will on Saturday! |
Yesterday, we had a less than ideal Easter. The Eldest Princess woke up with a nasty stomach bug. I’ll spare you the gory details, but it lasted all. day. long. Remember when I said I hate to clean house and rarely do so? Let’s just say someone in my house throwing up shifts me into uber cleaning mode. EVERYTHING must be disinfected (and again and again and again with the hopes of burning off the first layer of my skin). So rather than spending the day cooking and playing with my girls, I spent most of the day doing load after stinking load of laundry and bleaching our bathrooms. ICK.
This led to the unfortunate discovery of a leak in our half bath toilet. It looks like we’re going to have to replace that bad boy. I’m kind of excited. Our house was built on a BEAUTIFUL piece of property in the 1950s and the bathrooms are my least favorite part of it. 🙁 They’re basically impossible to clean and don’t even look clean when they are clean (share your tips with me!). They are the bane of my existence. At one point yesterday, the King and I considered just abandoning the house altogether. Anywho, looks like the emergency fund is going to get dipped into so we can repair or replace the toilet (replace, puhleaze!). And for now, we are a one toilet house which was a scary prospect when I thought we were all coming down with the bug.
However, the Eldest Princess is on the mend today and no one else seems to be showing symptoms. I’m praying we’ve dodged the bullet but I’m not counting my chickens until like Thursday. I HATE throwing up.
All of this leads me to say that you’ll notice in our meal plan next Saturday we’ll be having Easter dinner. We’ll color eggs, stomp through the yard, and pretend it’s Easter. And on that Sunday? The girls will be wearing their Easter best and enjoying a re-do of the holiday! I felt bad for the Eldest Princess. She was SO sad. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to give it another go. I think this will be a great way to recapture the specialness of the holiday. Yep, I’m calling a mulligan on Easter 2010.
