I’ll admit it. I am not a huge fan of White Castle. My husband Brian LOVES those little square sliders though. And for years, I wanted to try this recipe from White Castle’s website. I tweaked the recipe just a bit to develop our own White Castle Breakfast Casserole. I think you’ll like it too!

Ingredients

10 White Castle Sliders Cut Into Bite Sized Pieces
4 Cups of Frozen Hashbrowns
2 1/2 Cups of Cheese
6 Eggs
2 T of Butter Melted
Salt and Pepper to Taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Butter or spray a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray.
  3. Cut each slider into 6 bite sized pieces and add to the pan.
  4. Add 4 cups of frozen hashbrowns to the pan and shake until evenly distributed with the slider pieces.
  5. Add 1 1/2 cups of cheese to the pan and stir the mixture until evenly distributed.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the 6 eggs and 2 T of melted butter.
  7. Optional: Add 1/4 t. of salt and pepper. I feel like the sliders have enough of both in them already, but add to your preferences.
  8. Pour the egg mixture over the 9×13 pan.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese over the pan evenly.
  10. Bake in pre-heated oven for 45 minutes or until the middle of the casserole is set.

A Few Notes:

You can choose to purchase the sliders at White Castle or buy the frozen variety from the grocery store. I purchased ours at ALDI and they worked fine. I’m not a huge fan of onions, so next time I’ll buy them through the drive through instead.

The Verdict

You guys? This was really good. I was shocked that I liked it since usually I don’t even like the smell of the restaurant. If you have a White Castle fan in your house, they will love this breakfast casserole. My husband suggested subbing White Castle fries for the hash browns. I think that might get a little soggy though. I really think your crew will enjoy this recipe even if they’re not White Castle fans!
