Hey everybody. So glad you stopped by today. Freedom Friday is when I bi-weekly let you in on how we’re doing with our pursuit of paying off debt. I’m hoping that many of you will also e-mail me with your story (with either “Freedom in Progress” or “Freedom Achieved” in the subject line) and I can share your story to encourage others, too.
Sometimes when you pursue a discipline (doing what you need to do now so you can grow stronger), you’ll be blessed when you least expect it. Let me be very honest with you. It has been VERY rare for me to buy clothes since we started our journey of becoming debt free. I can count on hand the number of times I’ve gone shopping for me in the past 2 years. Luckily, I’ve remained about the same size and I had several items to choose from already. I do remember getting a new shirt on Easter last year, finding a couple pairs of jeans (for $10 a piece) because my favorite pair ripped in February, and I got an outfit before I was on WTHR last May. I also used birthday money in the fall to buy myself a new hat for running and a sweatshirt. Soooo . . . new clothes are very much a luxury for me.
You can imagine my joy when on Wednesday evening the lovely and beautiful Jenny of Mommin’ It Up contacted me about a style makeover with her help and that of the wonderful folks at Lands End. In less than 24 hours, Jenny gave me some suggestions. I went to Sears and tried a few things on and got an idea of what I liked. I gave Jenny my sizes and an idea of what I really liked and she went to work. Jenny lined a fabulous wardrobe for me to wear on Thursday, Friday, and Friday night to Blissdom. And Lands End will have it to my door on Monday of next week.
I am so stinkin’ excited. As if it wasn’t enough that you all voted for me and helped me go to the conference for free, now I get to look stylish in big girl clothes. How awesome is that?
I’ll be sure to share with you pictures of the new digs when they come (and a few when I’m at Blissdom, too). But let me just say that I now am HOOKED on Lands End. I had never really looked at their line because I assumed their clothes were more expensive than I could afford. I was WRONG. For instance, check out these sassy pants. Not only are they only $14.99 BUT they also look SO cute on and feel like you’re wearing PJ pants. Soo soft and a little stretchy where you need them to be a little stretchy. 🙂
Anywho, sometimes when you set out intentionally to live a specific way, you’ll be blessed when you least expect it with more than you deserve. Keep on plugging. Keep changing your world one penny at a time. It does make a difference!
