It’s kind of crazy when you think about it . . .
Since April of 2008, our girls have gone from this:
to this:
It’s tempting to think that we’ve been able to pay off a whole lot of debt by simply sneezing
{or choose another bodily function of your own selection}
out a whole lot of cash.
The Princesses are such a good measurement of the time that it’s taken to get where we’re at in our debt snowball.
And while we’re waaaay ahead of our original schedule, we’re still a little less than nine months away from being debt free except for the mortgage.
Every time we chase that debt dragon down and the number goes down by $100 or even $1000 or when we turn a $10,000 corner or this summer when we finally joined the $100K club, I feel like we’re so very close to the end of this debt slaying journey. But the reality is we still owe a nice chunk of change. Fractional compared to the amount above, but good sized, all the same.
I used to dream that we would win a Sweepstakes or money would arrive in an unmarked envelope, exactly the amount it would take to erase our remaining debt. I honestly don’t want that dream any more.
Because we have clawed, saved, earned, and scrimped our way over time to this point.
And I want to finish the race.
Even if the finish line is off in the very distant horizon.
