Hear ye, hear ye, Money Saving Lords and Ladies! It’s Freedom Friday where I bi-weekly share our progress in becoming completely debt free. It’s also your turn to share your story of debt slaying. Whether you’ve paid off every cent you owe, are just getting started, or live somewhere in the in between, we want to hear from you! We’re better together, share your story and make us all stronger.
It’s official. We’ve joined the $100K club (actually we joined and then some).
When we first totaled up our debt and I realized it was well over $100,000, I was overwhelmed.
I’ve talked about how stupid I felt.
And it really seemed like this was a debt slaying journey that would never end, no matter when we began.
A little over three years later, we’re still slogging away in the trenches. We have hopes, dreams, and aspirations of being debt free (except the mortgage) by this time next year or sooner.
There are days when we feel so close (and yet so far away . . . sing the 80s tune now). And I feel myself being discouraged again. Wondering where we can cut back and save, feeling oppressed by gas prices, wanting to do fun summer things and knowing it’s just not in the budget (yet).
But so much has been crossed off our list:
Department Store credit card debt
Furniture on payment plan
Student Loan (me)
Medical debt
Braces
Root Canal
$7K Bar Loan
Car Loan
VISA Card
The race is not over.
There are many more miles to travel.
And I’m dreaming of the victory lap.
