Welcome to Favorite Things Friday . . . a little like Oprah’s show without all of the free cars. 😉 I want to take time every week and tell you about something I’m really crushing on right now (or two or three) and allow you a chance to share something you’re lovin’ on right now, too. And this week, I’m going to make it a teeny tiny give away, too. It’s an out of my own pocket give away so don’t expect much. Ha.
So I made the switch to primarily using vinegar, baking soda, and borax for all of my household cleaning during the past year. Now I’ve added a fourth element that I honestly feel like I could not live without. Drum Roll ladies and gentlemen . . . my favorite thing this week is Steel Wool. I know, you’re so excited, right? Anyway, a couple of weeks ago the Queen Mother suggested I get some to work on some left over drywalling that had gotten on our kitchen floor when we remodeled our kitchen over a year and a half ago (I’m more of a tortoise cleaner than a hare but the tortoise wins the race, right?). Not only did I find it handy for that, but I also LOVE using it to scrub dishes. And I used it last night to clean off a hard water stain on the back splash of my sink that I haven’t been able to get out for YEARS. And I’ve been able to clear out some mildew in my bathroom super easy!
Now for the life of me I can’t remember the brand that I bought and I threw away the packaging but I love that it doesn’t have cleaners in it and does not rust. Wondermous. I spent most of the day racking my brain and still haven’t made it to Walmart yet so I’ll update you tomorrow but I do know it came in a green package. That helps, huh? Anyway, it’s like this but not this brand:
< So today, I’m giving away one package of A Brand Name I Can’t Remember’s Steel Wool. :) Simply leave your favorite Green Cleaning Tip. It ain’t much, but it’s something. This has been a favorite of mine for years. I use a small amount of bleach in both the dishpan I am washing dishes in as well as the rinse water. Soak a yucky burnt on skillet for awhile in soapy bleachy water and it will come clean in a heartbeat. I always boil a small amount of water in my clean skillet before using as well. My husband swears if I don’t he can ‘taste’ the dishwashing soap. Works for me!
