Hello there fellow fitness minded Money Saving Lords and Ladies. Um, it is three shades of beee-yooot-iful outside of my window today. In fact, I’m itching to get out on the road to do a little running! Last week, I finally bit the bullet and ran at least a couple of days for the first time this spring. The weather was just too nice not to be out there enjoying it. So my 5K by May journey is well on its way. I was surprised that I can actually run a 5K without walking at all. Now to get faster!
I’ve mentioned several different free running resources a few weeks back and noticeably left off a great one that I used a lot last week. MapMyRun.com is fantastic for finding out just how far you ran after you run (or maybe you’re more calculated than I am and map it out before hand). It has all sorts of handy tools and of course even an iTunes App (but unfortunately it’s not free). There’s also MapMyWalk.com, MapMyRide.com, and MapMyFitness.com available online. All have a variety of levels of service but the most basic (which is more than enough for me) is free.
I’m also on week 2 of the Royal Hundred Pushup Challenge. So far, I really can’t complain at all. And in fact, I’m a bit shocked about how much I can already feel it in my core and the fact I’ve been able to increase the number of push ups I can do total. Plus it takes much less time that I thought it would. Such a basic exercise, such a great result! And of course it’s free.
Next week, I’ll be chatting about a few different fitness DVDs I’m trying out and how to score them for cheap. If you’re a new reader and looking for fitness resources, click the Buff on Budget tab to read some of my tips and ideas from past weeks. There’s plenty you can do even if your resources are limited!
