Want to buy something to inspire someone who is pursing a debt free lifestyle? Looking for some items to put on your wish list that will help you save money, slay debt, gain inspiration and live life to its fullest? I have an idea or two . . . or five . . . or nine . . . that might help! Even better, over the next few days, I will be giving away many of these items as a thank you to you, Lords and Ladies for a wonderful year here on Queen of Free. Without further ado, A Debt Free Girl’s Gift Guide:
- Amazon Gift Cards: Oh Amazon, long ago, you stole my heart. You can find EVERYTHING on Amazon. From toys to toilet paper, from music and movies to groceries and garbage bags, Amazon has plenty of ways to bless a household. Did you know that Amazon has coupons, too? Between coupons and Subscribe and Save, you can easily rack up savings. Perhaps the debt slaying family you’d love to bless needs something. Perhaps they want something. Chances are whatever the case, it can be found on Amazon.
- A Good Book: While we were paying off debt, it was great to shift our eyes to bigger stories. We also gained inspiration for our own journey. If you’re looking for particular titles, I’d highly recommend The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness by Dave Ramsey, Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell, Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World by Bob Goff, Scouting the Divine: My Search for God in Wine, Wool, and Wild Honey by Margaret Feinberg, and The Principle of the Path: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be by Andy Stanley. My four favorite reads of 2013 include Million Little Ways, A: Uncover the Art You Were Made to Live by Emily P. Freeman, You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream: Opening the Door to All God Has for You by Holley Gerth, 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker, and Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God by Margaret Feinberg.
- A Thrifty Zippers Wallet. Many debt slayers are committed to the cash only system. But oftentimes, envelope systems are unorganized or unattractive. Enter Thrifty Zippers. You can organize all of your cash categories, carry your debit, insurance cards, and license, too. There’s even room for a checkbook! Did I mention their durable and adorable? I’ve been carrying mine for about six months and won’t go back to any other system. ENTER TO WIN A THRIFTY ZIPPERS WALLET NOW THROUGH 12/17.
- Dave Ramsey’s Legacy Journey. The brand new 7 week course from Dave Ramsey is called The Legacy Journey. It takes people through lessons such as stewardship, contentment, and investing to show them how to live a generous life once they have control of their finances. It continues the principles of Financial Peace University, but anyone can benefit from this course whether they have been through FPU or not.
- Give an Experience. Money Saving Lords and Ladies probably grow weary of me haranguing them to “Spend Time, Not Money” on the ones they love, especially their children. If you’re in the position to spend a wee bit more on a gift *cough* grandparents *cough* consider giving a family a museum or zoo membership. Or if you can’t afford a membership purchase tickets for a one time visit to a museum, movie, or fun experience. These are luxuries many families forgo while paying off debt. Locally, I’d recommend sending a family to the Indianapolis Zoo’s Christmas at the Zoo experience. ENTER TO WIN A FAMILY FOUR PACK OF TIX NOW THROUGH 12/16.
- Inspiration to Pay Off Debt: 30 Days of Encouragement from the Queen of Free. This little eBook is only $2.99. You can download to a Kindle or any computer, phone, or table with the Kindle App. This short little daily spurt of inspiration is what I’d share with you if you were sitting at my kitchen table with me. Chin up, chest out, you can do this. This little book just might give you the umph you need to pay off debt in 2014.
- Junior’s Smart Saver Banks. Want to pass on the lessons of wise money management to your children? Check out these great Give, Save, and Spend banks from Dave Ramsey. Now with an updated look, these adorable little piggies will help begin concrete lessons of how to handle money well, no matter your age.
- A Subscription to eMeals. eMeals helps you plan your meals effectively, according to the grocery stores you frequent or the lifestyle you lead including Clean Eating and Paleo. Join eMeals During November and December and Get a Holiday Plan for Free, too. Plus you can score 15% Off with the code HOLIDAY.
- A Subscription to All You Magazine. One of my favorite reads, All You always has frugal tips and ideas that surprise even me! There’s even a 2-For-1 Holiday Sale going on right now. You can both give and receive the gift of All You and end up paying ~ $0.83/issue. What makes the magazine even more awesome is that it’s stuffed with coupons, anywhere from $50-$100 in great and practical savings.
Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow as I begin a week’s worth of give aways with many of the above products.
No matter what you give, don’t forget to keep this year’s Debt Free Christmas promise!

Okay, I’m going to have to add all of those books to my Goodreads “to-read” list! I have read Outliers (great one!) and have heard great things about 7 as well.

I love a good book. I actually had to hold myself back from listing more. 😉
