Winners Drink Milk: Will You Cheer For Me?

Tips like these helped us pay off $127K in debt. You can read our story in Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After.

@Thequeenoffree is a #WinnersDrinkMilk Indiana Dairy Ambassador! Follow her Royal Running adventures!

If you follow me on Social Media (Facebook! Twitter! Instagram!), then you probably know that this summer I’ve been training for a half marathon. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve ran one and let’s just say I was feeling the need to get my groove back. I’m not the best at running consistently in hot and humid weather. Have you seen my hair and skin? While I’d love to say I’ve strictly followed my training schedule, but I have run more days than I haven’t over the last 90 so I’m going to count that as a victory and roll the dice.

I’ll be running the Indianapolis Women’s Half Marathon (go ahead and enter for the 5K or half! You know you want to join me.). It’s my first “girls only” sort of running event so I’m thinking that will be fun. I’m confident that I can run the entire thing, but I’m not sure what sort of finishing time I will have. But one thing I know, I need your encouragement more than I realize. I don’t know if you’re like me at all but I am AWFUL about asking others to encourage me. I love to encourage them. But when it comes to reaching out to ask words like, “Will you pray for me?” “Will you help me?” I royally fail on a regular basis.

I think it’s probably a combination of not wanting to admit I need or want help (Hello Control Freak?) and just not wanting to bother people. In fact, when I do ask for help, it’s often prefaced with “I know you’re busy but . . . ” “Is there anyway at all you could . . . ” While I’m not saying we should throw all civility out the window, I think we need to be BOLDER in asking for the help of others.

So here’s the deal. I need your help. I need you to cheer for me. You can do this one of 4 ways. If you choose to comment but can’t think of what to share, I LOVE quotes and Scripture. Hint, hint! 🙂

  1. Zip me a Tweet, Facebook Comment or Message, or Comment on Instagram.
  2. Comment on this Post.
  3. This is a big ask, but come out to the route (Make a sign or wear a crown so I know who you are). 🙂
  4. Pray I don’t get lost or pass out. Seriously.

The weather, it looks to be a bit steamy on Saturday. So I’m praying for shade and a cool breeze. But even more than that, I need some human momentum. And I’d love to cheer for you too. Just ask for some help, mmmkay?

In the past I’ve written a few posts about the similarities between running and paying off debt (these are the things I’m thinking about while listening to my iPod Shuffle full blast). You can check out these posts for a little run run run, debt slaying inspiration:

I’ve been so inspired by your story and your posts and speaking engagements over the last year. I bought the Total Money Makeover yesterday (Sunday) and am already more than halfway through it! I can’t put it down. You and your family are a huge inspiration!! You will finish well because you’ve trained hard for it. Look at waking up the day after the race not as sore as everyone who didn’t properly train as a victory. Good luck!

You can’t go wrong with this one. It’s one of my favorites! Isaiah 40:31 “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”
