The lovely photo above is available for FREE printable download in my eBook Keep the Happy in Your Holidays: 21 Ways to Save Time, Money, and Your Sanity this Christmas Season. It’s available for as little as $1.59 or you can snag it for FREE when you pre-order Slaying the Debt Dragon.
Can we have a little chat together? It’s that time of the year again. I’m about to get all crazy with deal posts and money saving ideas to make your Christmas merry and more affordable. But as I’ve said before in the past, each time I post a bargain or unbelievable find, I wince a little bit. I’m always a little nervous. Let me explain why . . .
More than anything, I long for you to celebrate a holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy. My heart is for you to gather together with your family, recall fun memories of the past, worship Jesus whose birth we celebrate, dream a little bit in the haze of classic holiday films, sing carols at the top of your lungs, make a difference in the world, and see the wonder in a child’s eyes as he or she rips into a gift with glee.
However, the very last thing I would ever want to do is to lead you down a path of discontent:
Where you long for something you can’t afford,
Where you overextend your finances,
Where you spend more than you make.
Yes, I love a good deal. I delight in sharing bargains. But what I love even more is you, Money Saving Lords and Ladies. I value how you come back and read my words, sharing ideas and favorite finds with your friends and family. So together, let’s make a pact for a debt free Christmas. Let’s promise that we won’t go into to debt to celebrate. That we won’t spend money that we don’t have. That we won’t trade short term happiness for long term success and joy.
I just know that this can be the Christmas that sets your heart ablaze with new excitement:
Where you learn something new about God and yourself,
Where you trade in excess for simple pleasures,
Where you realize money can buy gifts but it can’t purchase the things that truly matter.
I’ll try to remind you of our promise at the bottom of each and every deal post that pops up on Queen of Free. You can print out this post and hang it on your fridge or jot down a reminder on a post-it placing it in your wallet. Whatever you have to do to remind yourself to stay the course and live within your means, DO IT. I promise that it will be worth it in the long run. January you thinks you were so smart to make and keep this promise.
Solider up and shine on Money Saving Lords and Ladies. You’ve got this thing. I know you can do it.
