I’ve shared several places on Facebook but if you’re not a Facebooker, I wanted to be sure to share the link of our story that was featured on WTHR last night. So without further ado: Couple Shares Tips for Becoming Debt Free. The embed feature isn’t playing nicely with me so you’ll have to click out to view it.
We had a great time shooting the piece with Richard Essex {who’s a standup fella and has ties to both Asbury and Terre Haute, cool huh?} and it was more than a little bit intimidating having a camera in my house. I’ve done several media pieces in studio but never in my house where someone could easily see my clutter and messy fridge. Ay-yi-yi.
And no matter how many of you have been kind saying things looked clean and you barely noticed it, egad, it was bad. I hadn’t cleaned the refrigerator out since our Easter feast, we were out of town – hence all that bottled water that I NEVER buy, I hadn’t been to the grocery store since we got home late Saturday night . . . excuses, excuses, I know. I once watched a media piece where they opened up Jillian Michael’s refrigerator and it was filled with junk. So I’m taking peace in that. True story, I swear. Plus I had no idea they were going to do that. Anyway, I made a trip to Aldi today and cleaned out the fridge. Come back Richard, come back!
A few people commented on WTHR’s Fan Page that we didn’t give Dave Ramsey {that’s the link where we were featured on Dave’s blog, btw, pretty neat-o} any credit for our success. Which if you have followed me for like 15 seconds, you know that we are HUGE Ramseyheads and attribute our journey even beginning to him. Along the way, we listened to Dave Ramsey’s radio show like it was our version of AA {or DA Debtors Anonymous} In fact, during the Channel 13 story, I’m looking at Big Dave’s fanpage on the computer and there’s a book on the counter. Also we gave the Total Money Makeover to the Cameraman before he left. He has about 9 grand in student loans to pay off. Go Sir Matt and your noble wife, you can do it! So anywho, just know that we can’t control what gets chosen in a piece. 🙂
Also I didn’t credit Sir Aaron for titling me “The Queen of Free” about 4 years ago. You’re swell Aaron. We owe you and Lady Meredith dinner.
Tonight, I’m teaching a coupon class at the Greenwood Public Library! You still have time to sign up and head out to learn about coupons and hear about our recent release from debt in our lives. I’d love to meet you. See you at 5:30 PM.
