Three Things Thursday: Stuff I’ve GOT to get done today

Tips like these helped us pay off $127K in debt. You can read our story in Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After.

June 25, 2009 By Cherie Lowe

So a little less tip-ish today and a little more focused on the day to day of running the castle.  I think I’ve discussed the fact before that I’m not so much of a cleaner (read: I’d rather do ANYTHING else in the world than clean my own house.  Other people’s houses are fun to clean.  I am dysfunctional.).  And unfortunately, I have a tendency to let things pile up – dishes, laundry, clutter – until they reach the level of what I like to call Health Department Bad before I get motivated enough to knock it out.  Today is that day.  Things are definitely piled up.  So as soon as I’m finished sharing with you some awesome things to score for free, I’m off to put on my “apron” (I actually have to pick up my real apron soon that Lady Ariel has made for me but more about that another day) and have at it.  Here are the top three MUST dos on my list today.

1) DISHES, DISHES, DISHES.  We have had a bit of a reduction in the number of dishes we wash because I rid us of an entire set earlier this year.  I figure less stuff, less clutter.  And it’s true to a certain degree.  Turns out you still have to wash them everyday.  Ugh.

2) LAUNDRY.  This has been challenging with the recent string of hot weather in the Queendom.  Our laundry room is located in a non-ventilated area, attached to our garage.  This makes it extremely hot out there in the summer and cold in the winter.  And if you let the laundry sit in the washing machine approximately 5 minutes before you get it in the dryer, it sours.  So this can be a bit of a challenge if I space that I’ve put a load in the wash.  I end up washing it more than once which makes me sad on so many levels.

3) CABINET EVALUATION/DINNER PREP.  We are on Day 25 of not eating out for the month.  It’s gone strikingly well.  This Saturday we will break our streak because we have a special family experience that we enjoy every June wherein we celebrate the beginning of the Royal Day by eating a pancake as big as our heads and/or an awesome Egg White Omelet at LePeep.  Anyway, I need to take a few minutes today to double check what we have in the cabinets and fridge to make my grocery list for next week.

Alright, now I must troll the internet to find free things for you and then I must clean, clean, clean!  🙂  What are three things that you’ve got to get done today?

I feel ya on the having to wash laundry twice sometimes.

I think it’s FlyLady who says, “A load a day keeps the chaos away.” I’m thinking about posting that in my laundry room. 🙂
