Um, I think I promised this a couple of weeks ago, but here is my Honey Cinnamon Pear Sauce recipe. It’s really no much of a recipe because there’s not much to it but hey, you asked so you shall receive (as a reminder if you ever wonder about a dish that’s on my Meal Plan, please ask about it. Chances are good that someone else would also like to know what goes into it.). I got the idea to make this dish back when I was making our own baby food about a year ago. The King and I have always wondered why pear sauce didn’t take off like applesauce because it’s SO delish! So without further ado:
Honey Cinnamon Pear Sauce
4 Pears (I buy the 4 pack of green pears *technical fruit term* at Aldi)
Honey (I drizzle so I have no idea how much it adds up to be, guessing between 1 – 2 T)
Cinnamon (enough to coat the pears)
1/4 cup of water
1 Crockpot (got that measurement down)
Peel and chop pears into chunks (the smaller/thinner they are the faster they cook). Add to crock pot and lightly drizzle with honey. I’m guessing a maximum of 1 1/2 T but it really varies upon taste. I’ve just started to use Blue Agave Syrup and probably will try to sub that for the Honey the next time I make it. Stir the pears around so that they all get a little honey mask.
Coat pears with cinnamon. I’m pretty liberal with it. Again, stir it up. Finally add 1/4 cup of water. Stir one more time.
Cook in crockpot for 2-4 hours on High, 6-8 on low. Pears will become very soft. Soft enough that you can mash them either with a potato masher or fork.
If you really want to, you can puree it in a food processor but we like the sauce chunky, served warm. It’s VERY good with homemade granola.
I think one of my favorite things about this recipe is how few ingredients it has. The fewer the ingredients, the better the dish in my opinion. Don’t complicate something that’s simply delicious on its own. Hope you get a chance to enjoy this yummy warm dish on a chilly fall day!

Last year I made this because I was given borderline-overripe pears. I canned some, and I’m pretty sure I still have some in my freezer. This year, the pears I got were NOT overripe, so they got canned as slices, to the tune of like 30 pints. I’ll be eating lots of pears this year.
