Tax Day is almost here! While it could mean a refund for some of us {rejoice and pay off that debt!} it might mean making a payment or two for others {so sorry, but hang in there}. To ease your pain or celebrate your victory, many places are offering discounts, coupons, and freebies. A general tip for any restaurant promotion is to call ahead and make sure that your location is indeed participating and still has some of the freebies on hand. That way, you won’t be frustrated with the restaurant and/or me if it turns out that they aren’t.
1) AMC Theaters: This one actually started on the 12th and runs through the 15th. There’s a printable and/or mobile coupon good for a FREE bag of popcorn, no purchase necessary. You *might* even be able to use this one without seeing a movie. SCORE. All of the details can be found here.
2) Arby’s: Print a coupon good for either a FREE Value Size Curly Fry or Small Order of Potato Cakes. The coupon is valid one per customer, all day on Monday April 15th.
3) Great American Cookies: Snag a FREE Birthday Cake Cookie at participating locations while supplies last all day long on April 15th. A quick search revealed that Castleton Square Mall is the only Indy area participating store. So if you’re shopping it up, you might as well have a free tax day sweet treat.
4) White Castle: We know that Nicole Miscensik will love this one! White Castle has a printable coupon good for 15% off all day long. More details can be found here.
5) Sonic: Typically, Sonic hosts Happy Hour from 2-4 PM daily. You can get their slushies and drinks at half price during those hours. However on Tax Day, the 1/2 priced goodness lasts all day long. Strawberry Limeade, for the win!
6) Cinnabon: On April 15th from 6-8 PM, you can snag to FREE Cinnabon Bites at participating locations. Again, call ahead of time so that you’re not cinnamon-less and sad {or worse have to spend money}. I know that Circle Centre Mall is in on this freebie {and possibly Lafayette Square but be sure to call first!}.
7) Papa Johns & Papa Murphy’s: Both pizza restaurants are offering 1040 deals. Use the code TAXSPC when ordering online for Papa John’s and get a Large 3 topping & 2 liter for $10.40. I’ve seen a number of deals for Papa Murphy’s floating around for tax day including a Large Pepperoni for $5 or any pizza, any size for $10. Call and see if your location has a special for Tax day.
8) HydroMassage is offering a FREE massage from April 15-19! Doesn’t that sound nice?! It looks like several Indianapolis area Planet Fitness locations are participating. To find out how to schedule a time slot and to print your voucher, go here.
9) Boston Market: Pick up 2 Rib Meals for $10.40 all day long on April 15, no coupon necessary. You can also enter to win one of 1,040 Rib Meals that they’re giving away and pick up a $1/Rib Meal coupon good through May 8th on the Boston Market Website.
I’ve also seen some possible offerings for Chick-fil-a {keep your receipt and bring it back in May for the same order for free} and McDonalds {Free coffee} but these will vary by location so you’ll definitely want to call ahead.
The best thing you can do for next year’s tax season is to begin collecting everything in one place. Whether you label everything in your Quicken software or create a box to store important receipts, records of donations, and possible itemized write offs, having a centralized location to organize information will keep you from owing or going crazy come next April.
