This week, kiddos will head out in droves dressed as their favorite super heroes or in creative costumes their moms pieced together at the last minute (what?! stop staring at me!). Halloween is a fun holiday to celebrate as a family but there’s no reason to buy the farm to have a good time. Check out these great Halloween Freebies available to you to help you celebrate.
FREE Trick-or-Treating Events. If you don’t have a neighborhood that you frequent (or maybe in addition to your neighborhood), there are plenty of indoor locations offering FREE trick-or-treating. From Castleton Square and Greenwood Park Malls to the Indiana State Fairgrounds, you can have all of the fun of trick-or-treating maybe without the cold chill in the air. Enjoy fun games & activities in addition to collecting candy. Be sure to check the links for hours, locations, and rules (some places don’t allow toy weapons or masks for children over a certain age). Also, Pottery Barn Kids has a spooky story time on Tuesday Oct. 29th! Today, from 12-2 pm, Metropolis is offering a Monster Mash event in Plainfield, too!
FREE Pumpkin Carving Patterns. There are literally 1000s of FREE patterns available to you to customize your pumpkin. Love the Indianapolis Colts? There’s a pattern for that! Jeff Gordon fan? Your pumpkin can be an homage to him. Disney, Dr. Who, Star Wars, Superheroes, Muppets, Princesses, Cap’n Crunch, Kool-Aid, The Last Supper, Steve Jobs, John Wayne, seriously all of the above can be found in this post (and SO many more!). You can find a pumpkin that’s uniquely you without spending much. At this point in the game, you are best off heading to the grocery store rather than the pumpkin patch to choose your favorite pumpkin at a low cost (and bonus many grocery stores carry locally grown pumpkins at a fraction of the price!). Or locally – Stout’s Melody Acres allows you to choose your own pumpkin from the field for as little as $4 or $6. Don’t overspend on something that next week will be rotting in your yard.
FREE Food on Halloween. Kids meals, doughnuts, cheap entrees for even adults, there is a list a mile long of great deals & freebies to feed the family on Halloween. Be sure to check before you go to see if your location is participating and what the requirements are. Some locations require coupons, others costumes. Here are some of my favorites:
– FREE Scary Face Pancake at IHOP
– FREE Kids Entree with adult purchase at Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Long Horn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Applebees, Panda Express (some of these require signing up for eClubs or Reward programs so check with your location for details, specific hours, & costume requirements).
– $0.50 Corn Dogs at Sonic
– $3 Entrees at Chipotle
