UPDATE: Comments have closed!  Stay tuned for the announcement of today’s winner at approximately 8:30 PM tonight (after the princesses are snoozing in their Royal beds!).  Thanks to all of you who entered.  🙂

Can you guess what my favorite magazine is?  Come on now, you know that I love, love, LOVE the publication All You where you can learn great household and frugality tips, read fun articles, and harvest a HUGE number of very practical coupons (here’s Lady Bargain Briana’s listing of coupons in July’s issue).  You may or may not have read elsewhere that All You is hosting a Grocery Challenge.  You can have a chance to win $1000 on a Grocery Gift Card and a ton of Knorr products.  The details are here but basically you have $25/week/family member to spend on groceries, not including toiletries.  So if you’re new to saving money on groceries this would be a great chance for you to really practice being intentional.  We use about this much this per week including diapers and toiletries so I’m sure we’d be able to handle it.  And I know many more of you do even better than this!  Whether you win the Grocery Challenge or not, it would be a great way to test your money saving skills.  The program will send you weekly e-mails with encouragement and ideas, along with a handy dandy Spending Log that helps you track your purchases.  AND there’s a blog where you can interact with other contestants, share tips and ideas, and see how you stack up to the competition.  You do have to count any take out/eating out on your weekly totals so it might be good accountability for those of you wishing to cut down on eating out during the month of July.  Now that’s you’re all excited go here and sign up now!

Now that you’re all excited about the All You Grocery Challenge let’s start this Friday AM off with a chance for you to win a subscription to All You.  I’d enter if you already have a subscription to either give it to someone you love as a gift OR double your coupon goodness!  Or if you choose you could also have a different subscription like Real Simple, Southern Living, Cottage Living, Health, Costal Living, Cooking Light or one of the other great publications available through Southern Living at Home.  Here’s what you need to do to enter:

1) Leave a comment with your biggest grocery challenge.  What makes saving money at the store hard for you?

2) Tweet on Twitter, update your Status Message on Facebook, or Blog on your personal blog with details of the All You Subscription Giveaway for an additional entry.  Be sure to leave a comment here linking the Tweet, Status or Blog.

3) Subscribe to my blog through e-mail or a RSS feeder (or let me know you already do) and leave a comment for one more chance to win.

Guess what, even if you don’t win you can always get All You for $0.75/issue through Lady Ann-Marie on Queen of Free!  AND I’ll be giving away ANOTHER gift subscription next Friday.  I sure do love you guys.  🙂  Comment it up for your chance to win.  Comments will close and a winner will be selected by Random.org on Monday at high noon EST and announced that evening around 8:30 PM.

I sooooooo want a subscription to the magazine! So thanks for the offer!

My problem is getting organized ahead of time! I do fairly well when I have the coupons for the items on my list, but inevitably, I’ll buy something but not the one other thing I need (like two packages of hot dogs WITHOUT hot dog buns–duh!). Planning ahead does make a HUGE difference in the money game!

My biggest grocery problem is remembering to stock-up when prices are low. I’m a pantry-cooker rather than a meal-planner, so it’s critical that I have a variety of ingredients on hand- and, if I have even one of something in the pantry, even if that something is on sale, I won’t buy it. Not very forward-thinking!

My grocery problem seems to be buying too much when it is on sale! Our pantry and freezer seem to be overflowing. I hate to pass up a sale and run out before the next one comes along…

Hoping I win the subscription because I’m too frugral to get one of my own!

My biggest problem is trying to keep my husband in line with the shopping. He works near the closest major city and frequently stops by Aldi’s and Kroger’s on his way home from work. While this is a wonderful time and sanity saver for this mom of 4, he often doesn’t stick to the list. He also is big on convenience, but is getting better at sticking to my lists. I just have a hard time making sure the list is good for him, and he really doesn’t want to mess with coupons. So, while I am thankful he does most of the shopping, I wish he and I were more on the same page about what we need versus want at the grocery store. Also, some of the products I need for my son with food allergies cost much more than I want to pay. I try to cook from scratch mostly, but it can still be a challenge.

My biggest problem is trying to find inexpensive, healthy food that all six of us would like.

I have so many problems, but my biggest is probably not having a plan and sticking to it. I’m not organized enough. Would love to win this subscription as I’ve heard nothing but great things about the magazine!

I often over-buy on the BOGOs. We have very limited pantry space, so it can become a bit of a mess. But I love hearing the person tell me, “You saved 107.00 today.”

My biggest problem is has been … trying to meal plan with a very picky eater. I try not to take the kids to the store with me.

I have a hard time balancing nutrition and penny pinching! I don’t want to compromise on the quality of the food we eat just to save a few bucks… but at the same time I don’t want us eating junk because its cheap… sigh… its always something! 😉

What makes it hard to save money at the grocery for me is the lack of selection of stores living in a rural area. I have to drive in to the city to the bigger stores and really have to be organized and do planning ahead of time.

My biggest challenge is that I’m cooking for one. So buying in proportion or finding a way to utilize & not waste is definitely a challenge.

Also, I’ve been meaning to add you to my Google reader for a few weeks, so this was the perfect reminder. I’m a subscriber!
