According to the Eldest Princess tomorrow marks the most wonderful day of the year! That’s right tomorrow is PBS Kids in the Park at Veteran’s Memorial Plaza/American Legion Mall in downtown Indy from 10 AM to 4 PM. I might have mentioned it before? We always begin our day with a trip to our favorite downtown breakfast destination – LePeep. Pancakes, coffee, and egg whites will all be involved, YUM. What a great way to break our non-eating out streak. It will taste all that much better. Ha.
PBS Kids in the Park is of course FREE and features many meet and greets with your favorite PBS Characters. On our hit list tomorrow – Curious George, Cookie Monster, Word Girl, and Sid the Science Kid. There are also plenty of free quality stage shows from both PBS characters and local children’s entertainers. And there are booths with so many free goodies that it will make your head spin – frisbees, toothbrushes, food, coupons, and more. Plus, we also always enjoy the free bounce houses, face painting, and kids’ crafts available to those who attend. It’s a can’t miss it activity for our entire family. We love to pack snacks and plenty of bottled water so we’re not tempted to buy junk food from the vendors (and we eat plenty for breakfast for the same reason). And it’s a good idea to sunscreen up and/or bring an umbrella as there’s not much shade.
Maybe we’ll even meet in the park! Our second favorite local summer fest is going on this weekend, too at the Greenwood Freedom Festival. If you’re looking to stick closer to the Greenwood area, go to the parade in the AM and the street fair next to the library right after it! It’s also a great place to pick up lots of free swag. And the Craig’s Park Kids’ Fair is also always a great time and the fireworks are wonderful. Tonight there’s a free band concert from 6-8 PM, featuring free chips and queso from Moe’s Southwestern Grill that we plan to hit, too. Have a great summer fun-filled free weekend!
