Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. (Pr. 21:5)
I’m hanging my hat on the above quotation this morning and I thought I would share it with you. I think we all know down deep that there is no get rich scheme. It’s why when those infomercials for Real Estate House Flipping plans come on tv, something deep within your soul says, “Something ain’t right here.” Saving money can be easy but it still takes work. It’s much easier to swing through the drive thru than to pack a lunch. It’s much easier to spend a lot at the grocery store than to save with coupons. It’s much easier to do what feels good by spending frivolously without thinking about what you owe or could be saving to purchase.
But easy/hasty isn’t always the best bet. I’m not trying to go all super preach-y here on you. Because I speak as a hasty shortcut taker in recovery. Many days and for several years even, we lived through hasty shortcuts. Somedays it was fun but every month when I evaluated the bills and things just didn’t add up, it didn’t feel so good after all. So we’ve subscribed to the good planning and hard work method and I have to say it is FUN. The debt paid off, doors opened, and joy experienced in the last couple of years makes everything well worth the minor sacrifices. We still slip up and head toward hasty sometimes but 85% of the time we choose good planning and hard work.
Here are three things I’m planning for and working hard toward this fall:
1) The Queen’s New Royal Abode. I’m very excited to announce that The Royal Family has a second home. No we didn’t buy a condo or a lake house. Our new home is virtual. I’m going to be blogging at the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association soon and very soon. I’ll be sharing all of the best free and cheap things to do in Indianapolis and highlighting their coupon page and great offers available to you. It’s going to be so much fun! Do me a favor and hop on over here to let Lady Breena (who’s responsible for bringing QoF to ICVA) you’re excited about their soon to be newest addition!
2) Couponing Classes! They’re beginning to form now and dates are going on the calendar. I’m being selective with what I’m sharing so you get the best of the best in my information tips on gaining, organizing, and using coupons. The classes are only $10 and include a binder and some starter sheets to begin your couponing adventure. I need hosts in the Indy area who are willing to open their homes up. You can schedule classes on Wednesday or Friday evenings with Select Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon opportunities. E-mail me at thequeenoffree (at) gmail (dot) com for more information on hosting or attending.
3) MOPS and other Mom’s Groups. I have three slated for this fall! I am so excited to share mom-specific advice on how to save money and our philosophy of living. From tips on diaper savings to making your own babyfood, plus balancing time management in the home and having a real life, I *heart* sharing with other Moms ways to save money and encouraging them on their journey.
What about you? What you are you planning and working hard toward on this fair day?
