You’ve probably already scored your costumes and your candy. And odds are good, if you decorate that job is done, too. But there are still plenty of last minute to celebrate Halloween without breaking the bank this year. From free events to restaurant promotions, don’t miss these last minute Halloween freebies and money saving ideas!
Free Trick-Or-Treating Events
The two weeks before Halloween provide a plethora of opportunities for your little monsters to trick-or-treat multiple times. I love looking for local sites to discover what sorts of free events are going on in my area. My go-to for this is always Indy with Kids.
Here are a few of my favorite events going on before Halloween even hits:
- Monster Mash on Mass Ave, Sunday October 27th, 4-6 PM
- Trunk or Treat at Rocklane Christian Church, Sunday October 27th, 4-6 PM
- Halloween Hike at Pioneer Park in Mooresville, Thursday October 31st, 6:30-8 PM
- Malloween Events at Your Local Mall
- Trick-Or-Treating at Local Nursing Homes
Plenty of local high schools are hosting fundraising events for local charities, too. Don’t miss the opportunity to have lots of fun for a small donation:
- Speedway Spooktacular at Speedway Senior High School, Monday October 28th, 6:30-8:30 PM, $5/child and supports the Speedway Music Department
- Trick-or-Treat for Unicef at Greenwood High School, Tuesday October 29th, 5:30-7:30 PM, $5/child or $10/family
- All Treats, No Tricks at Fishers High School, Tuesday October 29th, 6-7:30 PM, $5/child or $15/family, supporting Riley Children’s Hospital
Restaurants on the Cheap
Fitting in dinner can be tricky on Halloween! For that reason, lots of restaurants are running promotions to let your kids eat for free or your family dine on the cheap. Here are some of my favorite restaurant deals for October 31st.
- McAlister’s Deli: Kids 12 & Under in Costume Eat Free with Adult Purchase (2 kids’ meals per adult entree), October 26-31
- Sonic Drive In: Snag $0.50 corn dogs all day long
- Chipotle: $4 Entrees from 3 PM to close for those who show up in costume
- Chuck E. Cheese: Kids in Costume Receive 50 FREE Tickets
- IHOP: Kids Eat Free with Adult Entree Purchase, 4-10 PM now through November 2.
Hit the Clearance
October 31st is all about trick-or-treating and festive fun. But as soon as November 1st hits, retailers throw a gear. The black and orange items will be removed quickly to prepare for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Christmas. This is great news for you!
The week after Halloween, you’ll see prices drop from 50% to 90% off. Pick up costumes for dress up or to put back for the next year. Purchase solid black or orange paper good items to use for other holidays or birthdays. Buy candy and baking goods for the winter holidays.
Just remember to store items where you can find them.
