Halloween is upon us. If you don’t have a costume yet, don’t worry. You don’t have to order online or hit that pricey Halloween store where everything will be on clearance the very next day. No, you can trick-or-treat or party in style with what you have around your house. Check out the following FREE Halloween Costume Ideas. P.S. they’re super easy, too!
1. Lumberjack
Bust out that flannel shirt and a stocking cap. If you’re a fella, grow a beard over a couple of days. Wear old jeans. Carry a toy axe or one with a cover so no one gets hurt.
2. American Idol Contestant
This one is SO easy and super fun. Simply go here to print out your American Idol Bib at home. Don’t forget your “Golden Ticket” too. Then wear your trendiest clothes or wacky clothes. Add a microphone or a guitar for a special touch. Run around screaming, “I’m going to Hollywood!”
3. Cowboy or Cowgirl
Yeehaw! Dig out your books and a western styled shirt. If you have one, don’t forget a stick horse. Toss on a cowgirl hat and your look is complete.
4. Tourist
Hang a camera around your neck and bust out a Hawaiian shirt. Have a fanny pack? You definitely need to wear that. Don’t forget your socks with sandals and khaki shorts. And complete the look a dab of sunblock on your nose.
5. Identity Theft
Have some of those “Hello My Name Is” tags leftover from an event? Write names on them and then peel and stick them all over a your shirt. No one will be quite sure who you are, but you’ll steal the show.
6. Rock the 80s
Leg warmers, peg rolled jeans, teased out hair? Like totally awesome, trick-or-treater, rock your 80s vibe. Bonus points for a NKOTB t-shirt, neon scrunchie, or a Tab to carry in your hands.
7. Nerd
Have a bow tie handy? How about a pair of glasses? It will be easy for you to channel your inner nerd. Choose a pocketed shirt so you can clip plenty of pens and maybe even a calculator to it. If you have suspenders, you could pull off an Urkel feel to your ensemble.
8. Rosie the Riveter
Roll up your sleeves. All you really need (especially if you have red hair) is a blue shirt and a red bandana to give the appearance of the iconic Rosie the Riveter.
9. Men in Black
Black suit? Black sunglasses? Little flashlight? You can rock that Men in Black look and everyone will soon forget what they saw at the party.
10. Laundry
Feel like there’s always laundry in piles all through your home? You have an instant costume. Cut a hole in the bottom of a laundry basket and use yarn, ribbon, or a belt to create suspenders to hold your basket up. Add towels or whatever laundry you have to the basket and you’re ready for some Halloween fun.
11. Dice
Here’s a great couples costume. Go to a big box home improvement store to see they have any extra large boxes you can have – square if possible. Cut them down to resemble the shape of dice. Spray paint or cover the boxes with white paper. Add construction paper black dots. Let the good times roll.
12. Secret Service
Take a twist on Men in Black Costume by adding aviators and a fake ear piece to be a Secret Service agent. Protect the candy!
13. Prom Queen or King
Find your spiffiest attire. Add a crown and a sash. You’ve just been elected the belle of the ball. Of course this time of year, a little extra makeup and you could be the zombie version of anything. But Zombie Prom Queen has a nice ring to it for sure.
14. Senior Photo
Recreate a senior photo (yours or someone else’s) with clothes you already have. Bonus points if you smile brightly with your hand under your chin and make a cardboard frame to attach around you.
15. Someone with the Sniffles
Crack out your favorite PJs and robe. Stuff the pockets with tissues and cough drops. Use makeup to put dark circles under your eyes. Pop a thermometer in your mouth. Don’t forget messy hair and maybe a heating pad or an ice pack, too.
Many times, costumes like these are the FAVORITES everyone remembers. You don’t have to spend a bundle to have a great time.
