There are days when I wonder what the future holds. There are days when I dream what it will be like. There are days when I wonder where the extra money that we’re now putting toward debt will go once we’re debt free.
We’ll be able to buy some essential items we’ve put off until we’re debt free . . .
- new towels
- new sheets
- a new vehicle
- a new mattress
We’ll be able to better fund our retirement.
We’ll take a real vacation as a family.
We’ll save for the Princesses’ college.
We’ll work on knocking out our mortgage early.
There will be more wiggle room in our budget to afford a few “extras” now and then.
And yet there are many things that we’ve learned through this process. Categories that we once considered needs are now wants.
- Cable TV
- A Microwave
- Eating out
- Vacations
- Home decor
- New wardrobes
I have a feeling that these extras will somewhat remain just that even when we’re debt free. And I hope that we continue to learn what really is extra and what is not.
Living with less isn’t punishment. It’s freedom. And it’s worth it.
