It’s the beginning of a new month. As May begins, it’s a month filled with special holidays and occasions – from Teacher Appreciation Day to Mother’s Day to Graduations and end of the year school celebrations, you’ll likely be very busy this month. That’s why I want to bring to you all of my favorite May freebies, bargains, and coupons you don’t want to miss.
Freebie Safety
Before we begin, I want to be sure you’re practicing safe bargaining. More than once, I’ve seen someone sharing on social media what they consider to be an amazing FREE opportunity that sadly turns out to be SPAM. You always want to carefully check sources before you willy nilly hand over your email or residential address or download an app. For instance if an offer for “free” Disney World tickets comes across your feed but is not from the official Walt Disney World page, it’s SPAM. Also be wary of pages reaching out to you about contests you’ve “won” that you never registered for. This actually happened to me this week. Double check the email address of origin for offers that float through your inbox, too. And above all if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
Freebie Simplicity
Secondly, it’s wise to set up an email account that you use only for the purposes of freebies and coupons. This will hopefully keep your inboxes from overflowing. Not only will you have everything in one place, you’re less likely to miss an important work or family related email due to and over abundance of other offers. Also, when you’ve received a freebie, it’s totally fine to delete the app or unsubscribe. Especially if you find yourself overspending at a particular store or restaurant, clear through those offers and remove yourself. And it’s never a bad idea to call ahead to ensure your local restaurant or destination is participating in offers and/or if there are current COVID protocols.
Restaurant Freebies
This list is likely to grow over the course of the next month; however, here are a few of my favorite upcoming offers for freebies in May at restaurants:
- McDonald’s is offering a FREE regular sized Caramel Brownie McFlurry on 5/4. Simply download the app and “clip” your offer.
- Steak ‘n Shake has been offering FREE fries no purchase necessary for months now. You can also get a FREE shake for signing up for Steak ‘n Shake Rewards.
- Moe’s Southwest Grill is currently offering FREE kid’s meals to those 12 and under on Sundays with the purchase of an adult entree.
- White Castle offers a FREE combo meal to those who download their app and join the Craver Nation. Through May 31st, you can also free dessert if you show proof of your vaccination. And I found a coupon good for a free freestyle drink, too.
- Taco Bell is offering a FREE crunchy taco on 5/4 for those who order through the app or in store.
- TCBY is offering a FREE 6 oz. serving to moms on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 9th.
Kids Freebies
Entertain the kids on a budget. Here are a few of my favorite kids’ freebies during the month of May.
- JCPenney Kids Zone: On Saturday May 8th, pick up a special kit in store from 11 AM to noon while supplies last. This month has a Mother’s Day Wonder Woman theme.
- The Indianapolis Indians are bringing back Kids Eat Free Sunday at Victory Field on Sunday May 16th. Children 14 & under get a free hot dog, bag of chips, and water bottle with their admission to the game.
- Museums On Us: Bank of America customers can get free admission to select locations on May 1st and May 2nd. Be sure to check COVID protocols.
- Michael’s is offering FREE online crafting classes right now.
I plan on updating this post as the month rolls along and more freebies come our direction. And if you know of a freebie, please leave it in the comments and I’ll update the post!
