Hi friends. *Waves sheepishly* I know I haven’t been a busy little bee over here lately, but please don’t think I’m being lazy. Turns out, the children want me to do fun things with them this summer like go to the library and and take them to VBS and day camps. Also, I’m required to feed them lunch (who knew?). Plus I’ve had a full plate with a few other things.
I know a few of you have been wondering where things are with the book. We are officially nearing the end of the copyediting phase. Hurrah! Fingers crossed, by the end of the week, the manuscript will be endorser ready. I did get to “see” some mock ups of chapter four last week and am so excited about the design’s readability. Each little detail that comes together is a delight.
I also gave the copyeditors a giggle or two with my misuse of an abbreviation and some unique to me phrases. It’s crazy how much scrutiny and how many eyes see a book before it’s published (good crazy, of course).
The official release date is now January 1, 2015. So we all have to wait a little bit longer but it’s the perfect time of the year to market the book. We’re also in the process of writing an eBook that will be free with pre-order all about saving time, money, and your sanity during the holiday season. Get ready to read some of my best tips on everything from Black Friday to cultivating contentment in your kids, how to keep holiday meal costs under control and strategies to travel during the holiday season without breaking the bank.
If you’re the praying type, I’d love your prayers for the details of forewords and endorsements to come together quickly and without too many hiccups. There’s a sales meeting in early July (which is crazy to think that bookstores begin buying books for January in July but these things take time). I’m partnering with some of my favorite authors and I sometimes have to pinch myself with who has signed on to support me in this endeavor. There are still a few big “maybes” hanging out there which will give a newbie author a little extra “oomph” so I’m hopeful those details will soon start to fall into place or that I’ll get a firm no so I can move on and make another ask. Full disclosure: I’m a complete control freak so not being able to know all of the details immediately when I want to know them makes me a mess of tangled nerves and gives me stress paralysis. I sit around and get nothing done because I can’t get beyond the block of what I want to know but can’t know. Please tell me I’m not the only one? Ay yi yi.
We’re inching closer to the finish line of the writing process but it brings with it another starting line of promotion. It’s all very exciting and I appreciate your support, friends. More than anything I’m praying this book brings hope to the hopeless.

Thanks friend. We’re inching closer to the finish line. Will you be at Re:Write again?

I so want to be there, but it’s up in the air right now because of the cost. It was the best conference I’ve been to and made some good friends, so I hope I can make it happen!

You literally have your hands (and heart) much fuller this year! And believe me of anyone in the world, I understand the cost factor. 😉 I’ll take good notes if you’re not able to come.
