Hi friends! I wanted to give you a quick update on the book that I’m writing Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After. Here are five things you may or may not know about the progress of the book.
- I have a group on Facebook where I drop quotes from the book & have been giving updates of articles. Typically I post once or twice a day so you won’t be bombarded with information. I’d love for you to join the group to keep up on what’s going on with the book.
- HOORAY, most of the “heavy-lifting” edits are finished. After 3 rounds of edits on the Intro & Chapter 1 and 2 rounds of redlines on Chapter 2 – 8 and 1 round on Chapter 9, I *think* the most difficult phase of the editing is complete. We still need to soldier on through the back matter, sidebars, and 4-5 stories of other families slaying the debt dragon, too. My editor Kim has been amazing throughout the entire process. I have learned so much about myself and writing through the entire process. Hi Kim! I’ll try not to make any grammatical errors in this post.
- You can pre-order the book on Amazon. The release date has been moved to November 1st. Tyndale hopes to market the book toward the end of the year or in January of 2015. There’s a great potential for people making financial changes due to the new year to be more interested in our story at that time.
- Our story was recently featured in the Chicago Tribune and on NBC’s news sites. I answered a couple of reporter’s requests and had no idea that the articles would be reposted in several places. My favorite so far has been this video from Working Woman Report. We’ll give Allison a break mispronouncing my name (it’s pronounced Share-y not the fancy French way just in case you’ve ever wondered). Our mention begins at 0:33.
- I’m using the hashtag #slaythedragon on Twitter to share some quotes from the book and encourage people to get after their debt. More than anything, I want the book to bring Hope from start to finish. I want people to know that there’s a way out even when things feel at their darkest. I pray you’ll share your story to change someone else’s.
As I continue down the path to becoming a published author, I’m more and more thankful for those of you who have cheered us on, regardless of outside circumstances. You were there when we were in debt, not debt free. You encouraged us in the darkest of days. I cannot wait for you to read this book. You’re main characters in our story.
