No matter whether you have a team in the game tonight, you might want to snack in style. Having a Big Game Feast doesn’t mean you need to empty your bank account. Here are some of my favorite tips for snacking without making your wallet the big loser.
Party Cut Pizza: Whether you order it or toss a frozen one into the oven, be sure you party cut the pizza rather than slicing it. The square cut will allow for more pieces to keep your team satisfied. This also prevents waste from your littlest fans whose eyes might be bigger than their stomachs. Request a party cut when your order or DIY.
Popcorn: We LOVE popcorn. It’s an incredibly frugal and filling snack. You can find my Recipe for Stovetop Popcorn here. I found this adorable FREE printable popcorn box. It takes minimal assembly and gives your snack a festive football feel.
Produce: Skip the chips and head for the healthy fare. My friend the Produce Mom suggests a Green vs. Orange bowl. Look for snacks in team colors and let people pick their favorite fruits and veggies to nosh on during the game. Avoid pre-made veggie platters though. Take a few extra minutes to peel and slice and save yourself tons of green.
Punch: Remember the Uncle Sam Punch we made on air back in July? Let’s revive that recipe with a little Denver and Seattle flair! Choose two or three beverages with team colors. Make sure each beverage has a distinctly varying amounts of sugar (it won’t work if they don’t and be sure to watch for grams per ounce!). Slowly pour the drink with the highest sugar content into the bottom of the glass and let it sit. Fill your glass, pitcher, or punch bowl (get it?!) up to the brim with ice. Then, pour the lower sugar counts on top of it. Magically (or due to some chemistry density rule I don’t fully understand), the colors stay divided. You can even print out these cute little Denver and Seattle football helmets to put on each glass.
How will you snack this Super Sunday? These 4 P’s will help keep your belly happy and your budget on track, no matter who wins the big game!
