Catch me tomorrow morning on WTHR Weekend Sunrise at 7:45 AM! Here’s a sneak peek of some of the money saving tips I’ll share.
It’s very easy to get overwhelmed in the aisles of the department store or your favorite big box when it comes to choosing beauty products. If you’re anything like me, your eyes begin to glaze over and everything swirls together in a big mess of pricetags and product. What do you really need and how much should you spend? Today, let’s tackle ways to save when you’re getting purty.
1) Ask for Help. Spending money on products that you don’t need or won’t use is the worst. So it’s essential to seek out an expert opinion. That may come in the form of someone who runs a salon or it might just be the mom in the pick up line who has a similar hair texture or even friends on FB. Find someone who is rocking a look you love and ask them what they use. You’ll avoid spending dough on products that don’t produce.
2) Sample it Up. Many beauty counters or stores like Sephora offer free samples of their products. This is incredibly helpful so you don’t again purchase a product that doesn’t work for you, look right, or achieve the results were desiring. In particular, I went through a string of hair products to find something that wouldn’t offend the King of Free’s allergies before landing on one that was just so.
3) Head to Amazon. Amazon has GREAT deals on beauty products. I love looking for high end products at a low cost on the online store of champions. Be sure you know where it’s shipping from {I tend to sort by Super Saver Shipping or Subscribe & Save to make sure I won’t have to pay S&H} and product specifications but I’m guessing you might score a great deal from the comfort of your couch.
4) Get All DIY. I spent 30 minutes on Pinterest and found approximately 999 different DIY home beauty products. From scrubs and conditioners to lip stain and foot soak and get this homemade pore strips. I complied a HUGE board of ideas here. The good news is that many of the items are in your kitchen cabinets right now. It can be as simple as Olive Oil and Sugar {add a little lemon too!} to create a moisturizing scrub or a CHOCOLATE mask *nom, nom, nom* made from 1/3 c of Dark Cocoa, 3 T of Heavy Cream {Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream would work, too}, 1/4 c of honey, & 3 T of Finely Ground Oats. Not only are you likely to already have all or most of the ingredients but you’ll know exactly what’s in the product you’re placing on your skin or in your hair.
