Greetings Money Saving Lords and Ladies! SIGH, it is very good to be back to normal. I didn’t let you in on a little secret last week in the fear that some weirdo out there might show up at my door step (ah the joy of the internetz). But the King of Free and Eldest Princess were gone almost ALL week to camp last week. Add to that, the Queen Mum and the King’s Mum were out of town. Which meant that I was basically alone with the Youngest Princess for several days on end. She was WONDERFUL (actually much, much better behaved than normal) but still aged two which meant I was without adult interaction for hours and hours and hours on end. And with that came both good and bad elements.
The good things about that were: I ate what I wanted when I wanted. Usually when I’m on my own, I eat cereal and anything I find in the cabinet. Rather snorey and blah. But this time, oh this time, I bought all of my favorite foods that no one else likes and cooked up a storm for myself – whole wheat penne with alfredo sauce and fresh bruschetta made from fresh basil and tomatoes from the garden, crab nachos with fresh peach salsa, LOTS of spring mix salads, fresh mozzarella on whole wheat with a drizzle of olive oil, parmesan, and fresh seasonings. Seriously, it was a YUM fest. And since I had to purchase less food over all, I still stayed well within budget. I also got a lot of cleaning done. A day or two in, I started embracing the fact that I don’t sleep when my husband is gone (I know, I talk a big game but I’m really a WIMP) and drank a nice big iced coffee around 5 PM in the evening. I then watched a chick flick (thankyouverymuch redbox) and did random household chores. We’re talking laundry, cleaning woodwork, cleaning out the fridge, hand mopping the floor, cleaning the bathrooms (which I hate!) until midnight or 1 AM. When the King and Eldest Princess came home yesterday afternoon all of the dishes were done (a rarity for me) and a late lunch was in the crockpot. They were both impressed and it smelled wonderful!
The bad things . . . I MADE myself go out in the evenings for an hour or two just to keep in touch with the world beyond my walls. I was bored. I was lonely. And oddly enough the schedule changes kept me from blogging hardly at all.
So today, in addition to LOTS of camp laundry, keeping the things I cleaned up to par, and 2 dentist appointments for the Royal Family, I’ll be cleaning virtual castle, too. It’s good to see you again friends.
