So I figure the average person can easily save $50 by applying a few quick tricks around his or her home. Now for many of you hard core frugalistas (and frugalistos), these won’t be a big shocker but every now and then I hear of a tip or trick that I want to share even though it might have been stated before.
- Get a discount on your cable. The King is SO good at this one! Did you know that even if you already subscribe to cable have a rate that you’ve had forever, you can call and ask for the deal that they’re currently offering to new customers. It doesn’t always work (or there are no current offers for new customers) but the King has called more than once to have our cable bill reduced. I loves me my high speed internet but I don’t wanna pay big bucks for it!
- Speaking of Cable, you can land basic channels for around $13 a month if you ask for “The Poverty” or “Poor Man’s” Package. If you ask for basic, they’ll give you a slew of channels and charge around $30-40. But if you ask for the Poverty Package, you can get local channels and a few extras for less than half that amount! Cable TV is one of the very first things that hit the chopping block when we decided to live more frugally and I honestly don’t think we’ll ever go back. 🙂
- Unplug, unplug, unplug! Relaxing is great but so is unplugging appliances.
