A week or two ago, I blogged about how to save on some back to school supplies and what to do if you end up with extras (keep in mind that the deals have switched over in the post linked above). Locally, I love the BackPack Attack which donates supplies and backpacks to local IPS students (as well as other Marion, Hancock, and Hendricks County schools) who might not have what they need for a successful school year. I’m very happy to announce that I’ll be attending an event with Lands’ End this weekend that helps support those very organization.
Tomorrow from 11-3 PM at the Sears in Castleton Square Mall, Lands’ End will be donating 1 backpack for every backpack purchased (up to 1,000 Backpacks!). They’re also giving shoppers a $10 discount on backpacks good on Saturday only.
Even better, there will be a Pack Pals station where, with the help of a local Elementary Art Teacher, kids can create special Backpack Tags, Buttons, and keychains for FUH-REE. I plan on being at the event from 1:30 – 3 PM. Come and meet me (I’ll be the one with the crazy red hair) and help out a charity while giving your kids a free Saturday art activity.
