Wowee Zowee what a week/weekend. There’s something beautiful about normalcy. You know, waking up in your own bed, beginning your own routine of coffee, fixing breakfast for the kids, helping the hubs get off to work, throwing in a load of laundry, evaluating your to-do list, etc. I LOVE a break from the routine but somehow settling back in is like meeting up with an old friend. There’s a great amount of comfort in knowing what you need to get done and getting at it. And as much as I loved getting a little breather from the day-in, day-out care of the princesses last week (and riding a few roller coasters, cruising the mall, and blogging from somewhere other than my messy desk), I LOVE having the girls home again. They fill my life with such joy, minute by minute.
We had a great time at the Queen Mum’s. There was plenty of time to visit and catch up, play with “the cousins,” help my mom get her Wii Fit set up and rolling, and help my dad clean his machine shop where he works on vintage Chevy trucks. And then Saturday night came . . . somehow I either ate waaaay too much sugar (highly likely) OR something didn’t agree with me OR my system finally decided to punish me for being too old and riding too many roller coasters. Let’s just say my Independence Day ended with a big bang and there weren’t any fireworks involved. Ewww-dependence Day is more like it. YUCK. Luckily after a bumpy night, I recovered and we were able to have a pleasant Sunday with the King’s Parents. Since no one else got sick (and NO I am NOT pregnant), I’m guessing it was a combination of the above factors and not a bug. As a side note, I’m terribly distraught that I missed 2 days of the 30 Day Shred because I didn’t think that my stomach could handle all of the jumping around that Level 3 requires. Today I’ll be back at it, resuming at Day 23.
So maybe being sick away from home is why I’m taking comfort in the familiar today (no matter how messy and unorganized my house is due to being away most of the week last week). I’m looking forward to a week filled with possibilities. There’s much to be done around the hacienda and yet I’m up for the challenge. Plus we’ll be busily preparing for the Eldest Princess and the King to embark on the adventure that is Camp Kynigo. Our church does its own Summer Camp for Elementary Kids in lieu of your traditional Vacation Bible School. The Eldest Princess went for the first time last year as a Kindergartner and is now an old pro as a big, bad first grader. The King . . . he is more of a novice camper. He enjoys camping out at the Holiday Inn so this should be an interesting experience for him. But he’s thrilled to invest in the princess and the other little yahoos from our church whom we love SO much. That means the Youngest Princess and I will be on our own for a couple of days. And then after that, I’m embarking on an adventure. To where, I know not! We celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary on July 17th and the King has planned a mid-week get away that has remained top secret. I’m SO excited and nervous and going crazy wondering where we’re headed.
Hopefully I haven’t bored you with the mundane details of our life today. I’ll be posting Monday Meals, a quick recipe, and of course your daily dose of Freebies. Make the most of today. It’s beautiful and worth living, full of possibilities and energy.
