So true confession time . . . I have always DREAMED, nay fantasied, of being in a Pillsbury Bake-Off. I’ve wondered what spawns a recipe idea in someone’s head. I’ve thought, “Hey, I could have come up with that.” And I’ve dreamed about the long lines of ovens and the sweet smells that must drift from the convention hall where the contest is held. Most of all, I’ve pondered if they let you keep those awesome aprons that have the Pillsbury logo on them. Sometimes I wonder how the day slips away so quickly. Anyhoo.
I was thrilled when Lady Jessica and the fine people of MyBlogSpark asked me to inform you all about the preliminary online rounds of the Bake-Off going on right now. You, yes you, yes you can help decide who will get to go that bake-off April 11-13, 2010 in Orlando, FL (*swoon*, they hold it in Orlando. I bet they let you visit Mickey, too.). It’s too late for you or me to enter a recipe into the contest; however, we can still feel like a part of the process by helping select the winner of the $1 Miiillllliiiooon Grand Prize. Judges have chosen recipes to run off against each other in pairs from May 14th – Sept 17th and you can go to www.bakeoff.com to vote for your favorite pair of recipes. You get to be the Judge! If you want to know what the judges are looking for when they choose a winner, go here to watch a video from Jann Atkins the Bake-Off Kitchen’s Assistant Manager (Two Things: 1. Bet she has LOTS of Pillsbury aprons and 2. Really? Her name is Atkins and she works for Pillsbury’s Bake-off? Seriously?).
Now, the folks at MyBlogSpark never leave you empty handed. And just for reading this post, they want to give Two Lucky Lords or Ladies a couple of wonderful gifts from Pillsbury. If selected, you will win your very own Pillsbury Doughboy. He giggles and everything. Seriously, he’s dripping with cuteness and wonderful cuddliness. And you’ll also receive a Bake-Off Prize Winning Recipe Collection. The recipes are so tempting, the pictures so beautiful that I CAN smell the dishes when I flip through the pages. Here’s how you can win your book and little Doughboy:
1) Leave a comment with your favorite past Bake-Off recipe OR what you think it takes to have a winner!
2) Tweet on Twitter, update your Status Message on Facebook, or Blog on your personal blog with details of the All You Subscription Giveaway for an additional entry. Be sure to leave an additional comment here linking the Tweet, Status or Blog.
3) Subscribe to my blog through e-mail or a RSS feeder (or let me know you already do) and leave an additional comment for one more chance to win.
Comments will close on Friday July 10th, 2009 at 9:30 AM with our winner announced at 8:30 PM that night (after Royal Bedtime for the Princesses).

To win the Pillsbury BakeOff I think you need to be creative, but create something that most people can recreate themselves in the kitchen.

My favorite bake-off recipe is from years and years ago…it looks to be pretty popular on their website too…I forget the name but it involves crescent rolls, chicken, cream cheese, chives, and is soooo delicious!

I think the way to win the bake-off is to be exotic – but not too exotic! A new and interesting twist (with a trendy ingredient) on a classic is the way to go.

P.S. I am subscriber! One more entry for me! Thanks for doing this, it’s fun. 🙂

I think you can win the cook off with an old down home recipe that most people have forgotten about but if you have the time you can dig out of your grandmothers recipes. I believe they are the best and are my families favorite things.
Thank you,
Chrissy

I think the way to win is to twist a classic using ingredients that you would find in your everyday kitchen…the truffle oils and capers, while delicious, are too unapproachable for folks who cook with the Pillsbury products and recipes. Thanks!!!

Creativity! My son loves to take the crescent rolls and put in whatever he can dream up, and bake. His fav is pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni.

To win the BakeOff I think you need a creative twist, a fresh look at a familiar ingredient, but still easy enough that the average cook at home can make.

I’m a subscriber, too — thanks for the extra chance to win!

To win I think the recipe needs to be creative, look mouth watering and be easy to duplicate in anyones kitchen.
