Hello Lords and Ladies! Wow, what a day. We walked around 8 miles yesterday which sounds so healthy and responsible. I should counter with, we also ate French fries, a cheeseburger, a Chicago Styled hot dog, onion rings, a milk shake, and a variety of cupcakes. My head spins just reading that. Luckily, we did split almost everything so it wasn’t a full serving of any of the above (except for a couple of the cupcakes) but still. WHEW. This AM, I’m back at the cafe, sucking down some coffee and eating a very PLAIN bagel. No woweezowee sugar for me today! And I need to eat some VEGETABLES (that are not fried) before I come to an unfortunate end.
We took the train out to Wrigleyville and had a Cubby Burger at Cubby Bear’s for lunch yesterday AM. It was very good and we could see the famous Wrigley sign right from where we were sitting the entire time. We walked about 1.5 miles, poking in and out of Vintage Clothing stores (there were several) to Molly’s Cupcakes. I will be writing a specific Cupcake Crawl Piece when I get back home and can insert all of the lovely pics. Molly’s was my 2nd favorite Cupcake bakery of the day. I had been there last year and was glad to see that things were relatively the same. From there, we poked in and out of beautiful Lincoln Park Neighborhoods, visiting cute boutiques and more vintage stores along the way. We walked by DePaul and finally made it to Sweet Mandy B’s. While adorable on the inside and featuring a number of delectable other desserts, I was a little disappointed in the cupcakes. They tasted good, like childhood really but not as unique as the other places that we had been (sorry Lady Mindy and Lady Jamie!). Anyway, we walked to grab the train to come back to the hotel for a few minutes, then we walked to Ed Debevics for dinner which was fun. Then we tried to go and take free dance lessons but got poured on instead so we ran through the rain and made our way via foot and train to more. It was hands down the most unique cupcake experience of the day. DELICIOUS, so unusual and a great time spent with the owner, Patty who gave us free samples and an inside scoop on the day to day operations of the bakery. Like I said, you’ll have to wait for the official cupcake post to hear about the different flavors we tried (this will definitely rock your socks off), the atmosphere of each place, and the insights we gained. We also made it to Millennium and Grant Parks yesterday (for just a bit before it rained on us), a Chicago Architecture Museum (while it was raining), and back to the MI mile to purchase something for the Eldest Princess from the American Girl store for her birthday. Today we’re headed to Navy Pier and Hull House for some more sight seeing. And we’ll pack it up and hit the road sometime before 5 PM IL time to head to the Queen Mum’s. It should be another fun and full day. I’m a bit sad everything’s coming to an end and we’ll be back to reality in less than 24 hours. It has been a wonderful time to spend talking, resting, exploring, reflecting and enjoying with the King. Today is our actual anniversary.
10 Years Ago Today, I married the funniest, most intelligent, kindest, smartest, most genuine, most compassionate, most loving, best lookin’ and down right best man I’ve ever met. He can karaoke, put in a pony tail, litigate up a storm, play Pretty, Pretty Princess, care for people, see and meet needs, and change the world with the best of them. And oh the way he loves me. He knows me better than I know myself most days. He sees the best in me. He cares for me with the gentlest touch. He sees and tends to details. I love and respect him so much. There have been times of trial for us both, struggle, defeat, victory, sorrow, joy, extreme highs and lows. Yet, I most certainly love him more today than I realized I ever could 10 years ago. What a journey, what a joy, what a blessing. Here’s to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 more . . . I love you, B.
Sorry that my posts are lacking today. I’m having a bit of a problem with publishing. I plan to get caught up on the Freebie goodness and frugal living when we come back home. Hope you’ve enjoyed going on our adventure with us!
