So in a totally non-freebie post this AM, I thought I’d mention some things I’m crushing on right now.  Call it a several less than 25 Random Things About Me or the Queen’s Favorite Things Episode (sorry no freebies for you all like Oprah hands out).  And be well aware that I would be glad to sample and review said products and give things away but none of these are paid endorsements.

Happy Baby Baby Food .  I have had a hard time finding a meat dish that the youngest princess enjoys eating and that I feel confident about giving to her.  I’ve made a lot of our own babyfood veggies and fruits (sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, bananas, green beans, peas, black beans even) and she’s starting to eat more and more table foods (applesauce, avocado, blueberries, peas, green beans, toast, whole wheat pasta, yogurt occasionally) but I have found something that she likes and that I love to give her in Happy Baby frozen babyfood.  Yep, that’s right I’m buying one of the most expensive baby foods out there for my little one.  But here’s why I love it.  For starters, I think it’s actually a bit more cost effective (than jarred foods) because you only heat up what you need and leave the rest in the freezer (just like our homemade baby food).  You’re not tempted to toss the jar or even sock it back in the fridge only to throw it away later.  Secondly, less packaging.  Thirdly, great organic ingredients and a variety of veggies and REAL whole grains (brown rice, etc.) that you can’t find in traditional jar foods.  Fourthly, no crazy seasonings.  Check out a baby food jar label sometime and see what kind of crap they put in those 3rd Foods.  I also love that they support Project Peanut Butter with a portion of their profits.  Cool company, good product.  Yeah for good baby food.

White Vinegar  as a cleaning product.  I have been reading more and more about using homemade cleaners and I’m starting to buy into it folks.  I have stopped purchasing multi-purpose, glass, and shower/bathroom cleaners and bought myself a plastic spray bottle at the Dollar Tree (another of my favorite things) and mixed White Vinegar with warm water and use it most everywhere.  I cannot bring myself to put down the Clorox Wipes yet but I’m hoping some of my other big name cleansers and household products will become a thing of the past in the near future.

a.n.a. Jeans .  This is my favorite brand of jeans that I find @ JC Penney’s.  I love the way the fit and feel (so soft on the inside like a pair of pjs!) and look.  I found two different pair this weekend on clearance for $9.99 a piece @ JCP.  Woohoo.  Pretty sure they’re the only brand I’m buying from here on out (although I only buy jeans about every 3-5 years).

Blood Water Mission .  This organization helps provide clean drinking water to Africans.  Did you know that $1 can provide drinking water for an African for an entire YEAR?  How many pennies do you have laying around your house?  Anyway, I’m very excited about their 40 Days of Water Event March 1- April 9.  I’m not sure that I can do without coffee for that long!  But the challenge is to use whatever $ you would spend on any other beverage (purchased out and about or @ home) and donate that to Blood Water Mission.  And some day if I ever had the opportunity and didn’t have small children to care for and want to spend time with, I would LOVE to do the Ride Well Tour which raises $ for Blood Water Mission and allows you to cycle (that’s bi not motor) across the US!  I’ve ridden across the state of IN but I think coast to coast would be A-MAZING.

I will be posting a meal idea today, although it will be less than a recipe and more like a suggestion!  Have a great day.
