So I’m still working on my Kajeet post but I wanted to pop on here and pass a few fall savings ideas on to you . . .
You may have noticed that I have had a bit of an obsession with all things pumpkin in the fall. I mentioned a couple of new pumpkin recipes here and here. I also have been adding pumpkin and some pumpkin pie spice to our regular ‘ole oatmeal in the AMs (which has a bit of Splenda Brown Sugar, some Smart Balance, and some Fat Free Milk, too) which = a YUM-O treat for breakfast. I’ve also been adding pumpkin pie spice to my coffee grounds (Dunkin Dark, of course!) when brewing my coffee (and/or sprinkling a bit into my cup) to get that latte taste with out a latte price! You also HAVE to buy your canned pumpkin @ Aldi (woe to you if you don’t have an Aldi near you). Right now, you can snag it for 79 cents a can at ours. Most other places run from 1.09 to 1.19 for Libby for the same amount so you really can save! EVERY penny counts, folks!
I made black beans from dried beans in the crockpot yesterday and they turned out AWESOME. And it was a serious savings. I got the equivalent of 3 cans of black beans for less than I would normally pay for one. It took a little extra work but was worth it. Go to Stephanie’s wonderful crockpot site to check out more money saving tips with your crockpot.
Speaking of using your crockpot, it’s Chili Season and if your recipe calls for Tomato Sauce, check out Money Saving Mom’s deal of how to get Hunts Sauce for free (or practically free).
I made a quick trip to the library last night to check out a few books for the eldest princess, King, and myself. I cannot stress to you the amount of money you can save by simply checking out books rather than buying them. Check out your local library’s website to see if they have an online catalog that you can search before going. Some libraries let you renew online and even place items on hold (so all you have to do is pick them up at the counter). Of course, the library has more than books – check out the media department for movies (ours has children’s movies for free for 1 week and entertainment movies for $1). The library can save you scads of cash!
Finally, I have a coupon code for you today. If you shop at all online, you need to ALWAYS Google for a coupon code before you checkout. There are plenty of sites out there devoted just to keeping up all of the codes for online retailers. Today, you can save $10 off of $10 at JC Penney by using the code DOOR39 (only good through Saturday the 1st). I have not been able to tell if you still have to pay shipping or not. Haven’t had time to shop online yet, although there are a few things that I need so I’m sure I’ll pop back on there today.
A Kajeet post and giveaway later today. Tomorrow, giveaways from an online au pair service and Mobibooks – a digital audio book service. And on Friday a $10 Build-A-Bear Gift Card (I know you’re all chomping @ the bit for that one!).
