January and February seem like the longest months of the year. Spending so many hours inside may make us want to breathe new life into our living spaces. But after the Christmas season, most of us don’t have money to spare. Have no fear, there are plenty of options to redecorate without much cash. Check out these ideas and get busy soon.
Pillow Swap
One easy and quick way to add some fun to your favorite spaces is by swapping out pillow cases or adding throw pillows. A number of awesome options are on Amazon for less than $5. But you can even swap out pillows or cases you already have.
Make the Most of Your Books
Are you a bibliophile? Make the most of your stacks and stacks of books. You can create your own end table or even coffee table with your favorite reads. Check out this idea to use a simple tray table to make the most of those piles of books.
Rearrange Your Room
It doesn’t cost anything to simply move your furniture. We all get stuck in ruts of where we keep our furnishings. Rethink where things are in a room. Maybe even move items from one room to another. If you can’t “see” how to make a change, enlist the help of a friend.
Kill Clutter
Reducing the number of items – be it furniture, possessions, or wall hangings – can create a new look in no time flat. If you haven’t already, check out the Financial Decluttering Challenge and begin to whittle away what you have.
Look for FREE Printables
There are plenty of awesome FREE printables on the Internet you can use to spruce up your space. Simply print out and then either place them in a frame you already have or even use a clipboard to hang up a new art piece to inspire your space.
Decorate with Photos and Cards
Sort through your favorite sentimental pieces. Use a piece of twine and clothespins to string up photos and cards you love. You can create a unique, joy inspiring focal piece in your space.
Get Thrifty
If you have a little bit of money to spend. Head to a thrift store and/or a salvage store to look for new furniture and wall art. You could even hit the Dollar Store for inspiration. In Indy, I love following Salvage & Co. (in Carmel and Fishers) and Indy Surplus Liquidators for affordable and unique furniture pieces.
