Every holiday seems to have its own corresponding sale. Labor Day Sales allow you to snag the items you need for a whole lot less cash. But what secret hacks and simple strategies could increase those savings even more? I’m so glad you asked! Here’s how I’ll be rocking the sales and not paying a penny more than necessary this Labor Day.
Coupons (Always Coupons)
I feel like I could preach this message until I went blue in the face. Before you purchase anything – especially a major purchase, a household purchase, a clothing purchase – you know, anything. You must look for coupons. Coupons aren’t your granny’s game any more and so many are digital that you could literally do this in store with a basic search.

Cash Back Sites
If you find yourself scanning the Labor Day Sales online this September, be sure you channel your efforts through an online cash back site. Ebates, Swagbucks, and Sunshine Rewards are my favorites to use. Not only will you find the coupons you need gathered in one place, you’ll also score a percentage of your purchase in cash back – either via Paypal or Check.

Ask for A Price Comparison
I’m not sure why I tend to get shy in a store. When you’re spending your hard earned dollars, you need to be a savvy and confident shopper. Don’t be a jerk but don’t be afraid to ask what a store’s price comparison policy. You can find many store policies online before you head into the store. Many might give you an equal product for a better price. Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask. The worst a retailer can say is no.

Join Store Loyalty Programs
If a store has a loyalty rewards program, you need to join. From Kohls to JC Penney to Office Depot to Starbucks to ULTA and beyond, I am a member of a number of rewards programs. I don’t shop frequently, but I want to be sure to collect those points and offers with every purchase I do make whether at Labor Day Sales or any other day of the year. Be sure to use an email account designated only for freebies, deals, and coupons. Set up a free one if necessary.
The 24 Hour Rule
Luckily, most Labor Day Sales last the entire weekend or even a week long. If you are unsure about a purchase, you need to wait at least 24 hours before making a buy. Removing yourself from a temptation and the impulse environment will clarify whether or not you really need to take advantage of that sale or not. I promise you can wait 24 hours to have the clarity of knowing whether or not your purchase is a good deal or just a deal.
