Oh friends, I have good news. I am running again. I’m not running marathons (or even half marathons) but every day in March I have endeavored to get at least 10K steps in and most days I’m clocking in closer to 13K (16,631 today, #boom). Somedays it’s been a joy, somedays it’s been dreadful. Every day but one has been on my treadmill in the happy little orange room where I work out. I’ve promised myself to log a minimum of 2 miles of running (the rest can be walked or trotted or prancercized).
I’m giving it my all to get in better physical and mental shape and selected Race for Roofs on Saturday March 29th as my end game, keep at it or else, run one more #WinnersDrinkMilk Indiana Dairy Refuel Runner Ambassador race. I’ll be honest that I selected the Race for Roofs 5K Run because it was the best one to fit into my crazy March calendar. However, I’ve been thrilled to get to know a bit more about the Englewood Community Development Corporation.
Race for Roofs benefits neighbors in the Englewood community who need short term help with the cost of housing through a scholarship fund. Basically your race entry helps alleviate some of the stress of poverty, allowing people in Indianapolis to look for permanent work. An event to cause you to get a bit healthier also provides healthy economic and mental health benefits for others, too. Awesome.
Even better, the Englewood Community Development Corporation has given me a Race for Roofs 5K coupon code! BOOYAH. Simply select the Queen of Free ticket (you’ll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page) to run the race for $15. That’s $5 off the early bird rate or $10 off the late registration. HURRY and register before midnight on Sunday March 16th to guarantee a tech shirt (I love those things!). After the Early Bird deadline passes, you can still get the discount but the shirts will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Next week, I’ll also have a free entry to give away!

I can’t do this event. But I totally just blogged about gettin gin steps each day – and now you serve as my inspiration! I’m nowhere near reaching my 10K daily goal but I want to be.

Yay for you friend! I know that if I only do 2 miles on the treadmill (about 4K steps for me) then I can snag my goal for the day. Yours is a garmin right? Otherwise I would “cheer” for you on fitbit. 🙂 I missed my 10K goal on Sunday because we were traveling and made the conscious choice to get back at it yesterday. Hoping to run outside today. You can do it!
