The lines wrap around the store and the building for those hot ticket items. New laptops, tablets, gaming systems, hot toys, and flat screens. Black Friday brings warrior shoppers out of the woodwork, ready to sacrifice sleep, warmth, and sometimes their toes under stray carts in pursuit of a hot deal at a low price. I salute you Black Friday shoppers. You are hard core and you know it.
While I have been known to snag a few of those more main stream deals, I’m a much more practical gal in many ways. On Black Friday, I head out in pursuit of what others might easily pass by and yet the prices of those items are the cheapest they are all year long.
- Towels. I know it’s not quite as glamorous, but Black Friday is one of the very best times of the year to purchase towels. This year, you can snag them at Walmart for $1.74 and $2 at Target. Places like Kohls and JC Penney will have great prices, too.
- Slow Cookers. If you’ve been waiting to replace a cracked pot, this is your absolute best time of the year to pick up this frugal cooking tool! There’s an awesome 6 qt. option for only $9.44 at Walmart this year. Walmart also has a Rival “Dipper” Crockpot for only $4.50. Lots of other retailers have great prices, too.
- Coats. The only time of the year you’ll find better deals on coats is in late March when they are on the clearance rack. You may need a coat to shop on Black Friday and I promise you’ll find great deals! Find great deals on coats at Walmart ($10), Sears ($29.99), and Target ($20).
- Pajamas. If Christmas Eve pjs are a part of your holiday tradition like they are ours, you’ll want to snag some of the very prices of the year. For adults and kids alike, comfy cozies will be super affordable, as low as $4 for the kids.
- Small Appliances. Coffee pots, blenders, griddles, toasters, waffle irons, hand mixers, and more! If it’s a kitchen gadget, it’s on sale. I’ve got my eye on a $9.44 coffee pot at Walmart but the deals are hot pretty much wherever you shop this Black Friday. These make great gifts or the provide the opportunity to upgrade if your appliances are a little out of date.
Honorable mentions go to vacuums, picture frames, pots/pans, and board games. Whatever you’re looking for this Black Friday, don’t forget the Smart Black Friday Shopping Tips I shared earlier this week as well as our Christmas promise.
What are you on the prowl for this Black Friday? Are you shopping in stores or at home online or not at all?

After I read your post I made a mental note to look for pajamas when I was out and about, and scored 3 pairs for under $30! I’m almost done shopping, so I’ll be staying home black Friday, but I might not be able to resist the pull of Cyber Monday.
