You can catch me every Sunday morning WTHR, Channel 13 (The Indianapolis NBC affiliate) sharing ways to save money and slay debt. Tune in at 7:45 AM tomorrow to hear ideas for saving money when it comes to reading your favorite books. Here’s a sneak peek of the tips I’ll share:
Happy birthday to you . . . I won’t sing it because I don’t want to have to pay the royalty fees. I don’t care how old you are, birthdays are AWESOME! Believe it or not, it’s not just your family who wants to celebrate you. Plenty of restaurants and retailers think that it’s a great day to bless you with a freebie or two. But Money Saving Lords & Ladies, you need to promise you will make the most of your birthday without overspending! How can you do that? I’m so glad you asked. Here are some of my favorite ways to take advantage of birthday deals and freebies without going overboard.
Sign Up for eClubs. Have a favorite store? Restaurant? Be sure you sign up for their eClubs or Loyalty Programs. You’ll periodically receive e-mails with coupons and sale alerts. But best of all, you will receive a little something something on your birthday.
Create a Freebie E-mail Address. I always advise my loyal royal readers to create a designated e-mail account used just for eClubs, coupons, freebies, and reward point programs. This is a life hack that will save your sanity, time and money. You don’t want to mix the e-mails that your school, work, church, and grandma send to you with your coupons and discounts. That is unless your grandma is prone to sending you forwards. Then you should give her your freebie and deal e-mail address, too. đ From gmail to Yahoo!, there are plenty of places to create an additional, free e-mail account. Whether it’s mrsfreebiepants@gmail or myfreestuff@yahoo, choose an address that works for you and use it specifically for signing up for such offers.
Avoid the B1G1 or Free Dessert with Purchase Offers. I love free stuff. Call me a purist, but I’m not a fan of freebies where you have to make a purchase. Be sure you’re reading the stipulations and requirements on your coupons carefully. You don’t want to end up paying for something on your birthday! That’s no fun.
Royal Favorite Birthday Freebies: Like I said above, my favorite offers are “no purchase necessary” and among some of my favorites that fall into this category are (in no particular offers):
noodles & co: FREE entree, no purchase necessary.
McAlister’s: $5/$5 coupon that I typically use to purchase a gallon of Tea!
Sephora: FREE birthday beauty insider gift, no purchase necessary
Baskin Robbins: FREE Scoop of Ice Cream on your birthday
Culvers: FREE Scoop of Custard on your birthday
Maggie Moo’s: FREE Ice Cream on your birthday
Starbucks Rewards: FREE Drink on Your Birthday
Dunkin’ Donuts: FREE Drink on Your Birthday
Toys ‘R Us: FREE Card, Gift, Birthday Call, and In Store Celebration for kids 10 & Under
Disney Movie Rewards: 100 Bonus Points
