And then came a very nice e-mail that began with the opening, “Hey Cherie, So, Dave agrees with you that we should giveaway some of the new Financial Peace University memberships on your website. :)”
About a week ago, my post popular post on Facebook ever was this:
I’ve spent the last week intentionally looking through the New Financial Peace Unverisity kit, listening to all of the CDs, and trying to see what subtle differences and resounding similarities there are between the original kit and this one.
The good news is, the content, message, and style of delivery is all the same. Dave didn’t alter the Baby Steps, suddenly change his tune about Dumping Debt, and hasn’t turned into some professorial type that has no fun when he’s conveying his message.
The even better news is, the content is new and improved! Seriously, during our four years of debt slaying, I listened to the Dave Ramsey Show like it was my J-O-B. I considered it my own debt version of AA. My 10 year old daughter can now answer most calls with the correct answer before Dave even speaks a word. Every penny of our $127K+ in debt was sifted through Dave’s books and words. I downloaded every podcast, found every free sermon series, and yes Twitter stalked Dave Ramsey. Financial Peace Unviersity has new illustrations {and yes even though some of his jokes and stories are the same, they’ve been punched up a wee bit}. PLUS he’s not the only one doing the talking this time, either. Dave shares the stage with his daughter Rachel Cruze, author/speaker/blogger Jon Acuff, and Lampo pro Chris Hogan {who I had never heard speak before and LOVED!}. The new voices with the same message brought different vantage points and new content. Only a Dave Ramsey stalker pro like me would probably notice.
Other notable changes after a quick observance: the book that accompanies the new FPU – Complete Guide to Money – stacks up with the workbook/CDs/DVDs chapter by chapter. No flipping around to have mirror content. A few little cute bells and whistles have been added like the Gazelle Progress Poster, Nerd’s Pencil and Free Spirit’s Eraser for budgeting, a bookmark and stickers – all fun kitschy additions. You also receive 2 FREE lessons to pass along to those who you think might love or need a little FPU in their lives. 😉 There’s an envelope system, Budget Forms Folder {extra forms are downloadable/printable}, Member Workbook, Audio CDS in a nifty case, and an online Membership ID.
I would have LOVED to see the opportunity to download the content from the CDs. My new laptop doesn’t have a CD drive so ripping the CDs onto my iPod might take a little work. Maybe next time, Dave?
The emphasis on practical, Biblical finance was refreshing and spoke right to my soul. Messages about contentment, generosity, and wise money management {stewardship if you’re old school}, never grow tiresome. And honestly it would serve me well to listen to them daily because they’re lessons that you can’t learn enough.
And now the news that so many of you were hoping to hear . . . TOMORROW, I will be posting a Give Away for the All New Financial Peace University. Thanks to Dave Ramsey, we’ll be giving away 2 complete kits to 2 Lucky Money Saving Lords or Ladies! So keep your eyes peeled and enter up.
This is a Royal Review. I was not compensated by Dave Ramsey or his pals. Nor was this post edited by anyone on Team Ramsey. I received 1 FPU Kit to review and 2 will be given away through my blog by the fine folks at Dave Ramsey. You can count on me giving my honest opinion in any review post. That’s a royal guarantee.
