Good morning Lords and Ladies . . . there’s not too much to report on the freebie front this AM. I have a couple of odd opportunities that I’ll post later but I thought that I would take a few minutes this AM while I’m watching Rachel Ray make a 30 Minute Meal to give you a personal update of what’s going on in the Queendom.
You might have read that the youngest princess had tubes put in her ears a couple of weeks ago. I am very happy to say that she is felling much, much, MUCH better. And best of all, she is sleeping much, much, MUCH better; which means her mama is much, much, MUCH happier. Hooray for all of us. 🙂 She isn’t still isn’t sleeping her original 12 hour shift that she had built to before all of this nonsense began, but she is going 8 hours each night (and some nights more). How wonderful, how marvelous. I feel like a new woman! The youngest princess is also standing EVERYWHERE. It is so cute. She seems to need something in her hands when she steps up – kind of like a tightrope walker – although sometimes she stands with nothing at all in the middle of the floor. For example, she crawled in the Living Room from the Kitchen – where she had been scavenging for food off of the floor or any odd piece of string, rocks, whatever she could find. I repeated my normal mantra, “What do you have in your mouth? Give it to me.” She stood up and stared me down as if to say, “What do you want with me woman?” And oh if you were wondering she didn’t have anything in her mouth – this time.
The eldest princess has begun basketball season, playing in an Upward League at a local church. She’s a proud member of the Lady Tigers who have a 1-1 record so far. 🙂 Unfortunately, the crazy weather has cancelled practice for the last couple of weeks but she has improved from last year and she’s hanging in there with girls much older than her. Since she is barely old enough to be a first grader (her birthday is in July), she’s playing with gals who are 2-3 years older than her in this 1st-2nd grade league. We’re proud of her focus and determination. As a side note, I *heart* Upward for a whole string of reasons. If you have a child K5-6th grade, you should definitely check into their leagues (there’s basketball, soccer, cheerleading, and flag football).
I have been crushing on a few new blogs that I wanted to share with you.
Passionate Homemaking – Living simply in order to give generously. I stumbled onto this one looking for recipes. I’m learning all sorts of new things about soaking grains to gain nutritional value from them. I haven’t yet tried the method but I find it fascinating and this blog a great one!
Cake Wrecks – Lady Julie has long been a fan of this blog which shows professional cakes gone terribly wrong. For some reason I have laughed until I cried lately looking through old posts on here. For example, see when Lady Julie’s office cake to celebrate a Olympic styled event was featured. Check out this Curious George cupcake cake – it made me laugh until I thought I would pee. Or my favorite cake of all, this fabulous baby shower cake . This blog is fantastically written and I could lose myself for hours on here. Prepare to be addicted.
Naturally Knocked Up – NO NO NO I am not trying to get pregnant. I just love the recipes on here and learning about supplements. And I’ve been toying with the granola bar recipe to make a lower sugar version of straight up granola. I’ll probably post it next week sometime. Again, I’m learning about soaking grains. Interesting stuff.
Frugal Granola – Living green and simply don’t have to oppose each other.
And finally, it’s not a blog but the eldest princess and I have enjoyed playing on Freerice.com which is a fun vocabulary building site (and they have other games) where you donate free rice as you play. Just try not to be addicted.
I hope to see you this afternoon during afternoon nap for a few freebie posts (or earlier if time permits!). Have a great day.
