Three Things Thursday

Tips like these helped us pay off $127K in debt. You can read our story in Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After.

March 19, 2009 By Cherie Lowe

Welcome to the first Three Things Thursday!  We’ll each week be discussing three random things.

Three Things I do Every Morning:

1) Have a cup of coffee.  I can’t live without my java.  I need little boost before I get the day underway.  Now, I almost always brew my own at home.  Coffee out is a rare treat indeed these days (unless of course I have a coupon).  On the flipside, I am a bit of a coffee snob.  I just can’t get into the discount brands.  However, that doesn’t mean I spend a boatload.  I always keep my eyes peeled for the deals (I never buy if it’s not on sale and most of the time I have a coupon, too).

2) Turn off all of the lights and drop the heat by 2 degrees.  After the King leaves for court (get it . . . he’s a lawyer.  I made a funny) and the eldest princess gets on the bus, the youngest princess and I make it a habit to go through the whole house, turning off all of the lights (our house gets enough natural sunlight to keep it bright during the day and during the winter we leave the one on where we’ll be), shutting doors (this is really to keep the youngest princess from tearing up the rooms that are “off limits” to her), and then drop the thermostat by two degrees (at least).  I don’t usually even notice the difference in the heat at all.

3)  Check my e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, and blog.  Yep, that’s right.  I’m an addict.

Now what about you?  What are three things you do every morning?

Love your thriftiness in turning down the heater. We’ve already had our A/C on for several weeks down here, and we keep it at 79 all the time, so I don’t think I could stand to push that any more, but I do admire your thriftiness!
Three things I do every morning without fail:
    1. Have my morning cocktail of 1/2 cup juice, 1/2 cup water, and one serving of Miralax. Miralax, it does a body good. After three surgeries, it’s a must.
    2. Take my arsenal of vitamins: Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc, C, B Complex, A&D, E, Folic Acid, and Omega 3 Fish Oil
    3. Finish off breakfast with some kind of bread (fave is Eng. Muffin) with peanut butter on it. I will eat peanut butter until the day I die. I love it! Salmonella threats and all.
I would’ve liked to have included my morning quiet time, but since this was an “every morning without fail” list, I would’ve been fudging to say I do it every morning. Some mornings these little rascally kids of mine (wink, wink) wake up earlier than they’re supposed to!! And the once intended “quiet time” suddenly becomes “noisy time” ! 🙂
Always enjoy your blog, Cherie! Thanks for your great work!

Three things I do each morning:
    1. Get woken up by my oldest- it’s more environmentally friendly than running the snooze for an hour! 🙂
    2. Get some caffeine.
    3. Check my email.

    My three “musts” each morning:

    1. COFFEE!!!!
    2. Check e-mail
    3. Catch a bit of news

If I’ve had enough of #1, I can do #2 and #3 at the same time, but look out world if coffee isn’t in the bloodstream yet….

    :o)
