Three Things Thursday

Tips like these helped us pay off $127K in debt. You can read our story in Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After.

Happy Three Things Thursday.  I wanted to give you a quick update on the WTHR stories.  I’m still a little vague myself but it definitely does look like I’ll be in studio on Sunday May 10th (Happy Mother’s Day!) and possibly might be taping a story tomorrow sometime.  I’m waiting on confirmation today and will post once I have the firm details.  I’m afraid of posting anything solid since last time it didn’t pan out.  So I’m holding it loosely for now.  For those of you who aren’t from the area and have asked about seeing the interview and/or story, I’ll check out my options for posting it or a link to it on here.  Today I thought I’d do something silly to pass the time of waiting for the e-mail with confirming facts to trip through my box.

Three Things I Eat/Drink Everyday

I am a creature of habit!  There are things I consume everyday.  Here’s a peak inside of my daily intake.

1) Unsweetened Tea.  I make my own, usually a blend of black and green tea (this week I used 4 individual bags of Lipton Black, 2 individual bags of Brenner Green Tea from Aldi, and my sample of Green Tropical Mighty Leaf Tea; YUM).  If I don’t have it, I feel like the world is less than it should be.  I usually drink coffee, too but not necessarily everyday.

2) Some sort of Nut.  I have at least one variety of nut every day.  Go ahead and make a quick snide comment about my mental health  . . . ok and we’re back.  Right now, I am crushing on whole raw almonds.  You can get the best deal on them @ Sam’s Club when you buy in them in a big ole bag in the baking section.  I also love walnuts, pecans, and peanuts.  I always get them unsalted without oils (often found in the baking nuts).  A handful of nuts is one of the best snacks around.  Just don’t eat the whole can/bag.

3) Bread.  I LOVE carbs.  I guess you could call me a carborvoire.  🙂  I have to watch what kind of carbs I consume and try to only eat whole grain, 100% whole wheat (or whole oat) sources packed with fiber and sometimes extra protein.  Right now, I’m crushing on Brownberry’s Double Protein Bread (when I can find it for $2.49 or less).  Bread is one area that I splurge economically because I want to get the best nutritional content for my buck.  Sometimes it pays to spend more when it comes to certain items.  i.e. Since I know I eat plenty of bread I want to be sure it gives me what I need nutritionally and lacks what I don’t need so I don’t have to spend extra time at the gym later.

What about you?  What are three things you eat and/or drink everyday?

Three things I eat/drink daily are Crystal Light water. I buy the canisters so that I can make a pitcher everyday for my husband and me. We aren’t big on buying bottled water. I also love All Bran crackers. They are a great source of fiber for me and taste great. The third thing is Yoplait yogurt. I love them. Especially the whips.

Coffee, oatmeal (I add raisins and some brown sugar), and milk. I’ll be honest though, sometimes I don’t have the oatmeal, like on the weekends. I’m pretty sure my mom completely ingrained in me to drink milk with my dinner. That and Andy’s penchant for serving up something spicy – milk is a must!

Um, well unlike healthy Angie, I like a good brownie for breakfast, followed by a glass of whole milk…just kidding. I almost always have peanut butter and honey toast with skim milk for breakfast 😉 YUM-O.

Let’s see…Water, peanut butter, and homemade yogurt. And if I can sneak some chocolate in there, I’m a-ok with that. 😉
