I thought I’d take a couple of minutes to update you on all the news that is news here in the Queendom.
- Had a great Blog Birthday yesterday! Thanks so much for all of the well wishes. No smash cake involved (great idea though, maybe on my 2nd Birthday) but it was a great day of reflection for me.
- The Eldest Princess is off to a good start in 2nd Grade for those of you wondering. She has a fabulous teacher and we’re looking forward to another year of learning for her.
- The Youngest Princess has gone on a sleep strike this week. She has a new molar (not to be confused with a moral which I typed yesterday due to lack of sleep or a romal which I just typed as I was trying to type it again). Any teething suggestions? It’s so weird because about 10 days ago, she was the most peaceful kid to put to bed (curled up waved at you, said baaahyyee and nigh night and then quietly went to sleep) and this week she has thrown the fit to beat all fits every. single. night. and. at. naptime. too. driving. her. mama. insane.
- We’re having company this weekend! Yay for college friends coming for a visit with their son who we get to meet for the first time. I have to clean my house. It must be done. I also must shop for groceries. And oh did I mention our yard is a jungle because our tractor tire literally came off of the wheel last week. Hmmm. Luckily they love us as we are. 😉
- Our CD giveaway winner will be announced tonight and we’ll have a new Giveaway beginning tomorrow morning for great items from Sam’s Club.
- As always, the very best ways to Track the Queendom is to Subscribe in an RSS Feeder (on the sidebar), sign up for an e-mail subscription (be sure to confirm it and check your spam folder for an e-mail from Feedburner), follow me on Twitter, or become a fan on Facebook (for my birthday, I ended up with 500 fans. Yay!).
Have a great Friday and a super weekend! Don’t forget to give your teething/bedtime for 17 month olds advice in the comments. I need some serious help or I’m going to be misspelling everything on this blog and become a crazed looking Queen.

My advice is simple, tylenol. I also gave my daughter a sippy cup with cold water for bed/nap. Hubby says to give Bendryl.
We always used Baby Orajel–if they no longer have this brand then try to find the generic 7.5% Benzocaine. Just a small amount rubbed on the painful area works. It doesn’t last forever, but typically my son or daughter would fall asleep before the pain started again.
I will trade a teething tip for any potty training advice (3yo boy). We loved the cold damp wash rag. Free, reusable, and seemed to soothe well.
For potty training: did you try having him come up with a special treat that he can earn after not needing a diaper/pull-up for one week? This worked for both of my kids–although it took longer for my son.
At the time I was able to afford purchasing a nice toy for each of them–however it could always be a different kind of treat like having him pick out what the family is eating for every meal for one day.
For teething boil some whole cloves, let it cool, about 15 minutes before nap/bedtime rub it on the affected area. This worked great with my children. Good Luck.
