Last week, I wrote a post about how I was becoming a little frustrated with the monotony of our debt slaying journey. More than one of you posted kind words of encouragement and I thank you very much. In particular, a first time commenter, Lady Lily shared some words of wisdom and a part of her personal debt slaying quest. I thought I’d share those thoughts with you today on Freedom Friday.
Hey everybody. So glad you stopped by today. Freedom Friday is when I bi-weekly let you in on how we’re doing with our pursuit of paying off debt. It’s also when many of you have e-mailed me with your story (with either “Freedom in Progress” or “Freedom Achieved” in the subject line) so I can share your story to encourage others, too.
I’ve been keeping up with your blog for a couple months now, and I wanted to thank you for it! It’s so fun to get freebies, but I also love the “debt-slaying” stories, too! My husband of 10 months and I have been Dave Ramsey freaks since December 09 (especially me). We, too, are slaying debt, $1,000/month. It’s been sooo awesome, and God is SO GOOD! 🙂
I, too, remember the “gazelle intensity” we had when we first started. We’re still intense about it now, but I know it’s not as strong as in the beginning. When we first got married (July 09), we’d always talked about our first vacation – to my homeplace, Oregon. Well, as much as it hurt, we knew we had to postpone it till we were debt-free.
Then the opportunity came up to go to Montana this summer, as my siblings, parents, and grandparents are having a family reunion. How much we would LOVE to go!!!! We tried to come up with a “cheap” way to get up there from Austin, TX, but we know that “If we live like no one else now, later we can live like no one else.” We’d have to use our 2nd car fund or emergency fund to go to Montana, and that ain’t happenin’.
My hubby and I will be debt-free this year!!! YAY!!! It’s been a GREAT start to our marriage – God has taught us a lot about communication, planning, and priorities. Together. 🙂
YOU CAN DO IT!!!! You’ve inspired many people, and I know you’ll finish this race strong! 🙂 God sees your hard work and efforts and He’ll reward you for it!
Thanks Lady Lily for your encouragement. It really hit the spot last Friday. And way to rock it girl. You guys are truly an inspiration. Did I mention that she and her husband, Sir Joe, are only 26 and 28! What a way to start their life journey together! Debt free plus with amazing marriage skillz.
NEXT WEEK on Freedom Friday, the King finally speaks! You won’t want to miss his amazing post for reals. It’s inspirational and funny and you get to meet the crown behind the tiara. 😉
E-mail me your debt slaying story today and inspire others. We’re stronger together.
