Celebrate the luck of the Irish without emptying the pot of gold. Check out these St. Patrick's Day Savings!

It’s the season for pots of gold, the luck of the Irish, and all things at the end of the rainbow. Like any holiday, St. Patrick’s Day is fun to celebrate but can lead to financial disappointment the next morning. However, you can still enjoy a fun day on the calendar. Here are some frugal, fun ways to make the most of your St. Patrick’s Day without breaking the bank. Don’t miss these St. Patrick’s Day Savings Strategies.

Look for Books

I think one of the best ways to celebrate a holidays is by reading. So whether you use your library card or you log into your eBook app and look for St. Patrick’s Day themed books. From historical beginnings to silly books, there are all sorts of ways to beef up your knowledge and have a little fun, too. Here are a few titles that might help kick start your journey.

Look Through Your Holiday Bin

Everyone tends to keep things from holidays in years’ past. One of my first tips for any seasonal event is to dig through what you already have. This can help you make the most of things you already own and cut down those impulse buys in the grocery store. Start your own Holiday Bin if you don’t have one today.

Look for Restaurant Deals

I know that much of the modern celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day involves imbibing. However, I’ll be the first to admit that beyond any of my basic tips on dining out or grocery shopping, I don’t know how to save you extra pennies on green beer. However, I do know that many restaurants will entice you in with tempting specials. Be sure you have a plan for exactly how much you’re going to spend. Limiting yourself in advance will help you to not go overboard in oh so many ways. Check out some restaurant deals.

Look for Community Fun

St. Patty’s Day is a community celebration! From parades to live music, from kids’ activities to physical fitness, you can find all sorts of fun ways to spend time without spending much money or any at all. For Indianapolis, the celebration kicks off on March 16th with the Greening of the Canal. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on March 17th and the Shamrock Run and Walk 5k is on the 18th. Check out this site for all the details. And don’t forget to look for fun opportunities in other areas too. A little internet search can yield all sorts of fun.

Look for a Recipe

Irish stew, Irish soda bread, Irish coffee – there are many dishes you can prepare to celebrate this year. Even if you’re just eating Lucky Charms, you may feel a little festive. Many Irish recipes feature frugal ingredients that will feed a full house without much extra cash. Find a new tasty holiday tradition.

  • Irish Soda Bread

Leprechaun traditions with kids can be fun. Irish music and dance might be another great way to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day. You have so many ways to celebrate! Begin a little research early so you can spend time and not money this year.
