Please Excuse the Formalities:

The following is a review that I chose to do in conjunction with MyBlogSpark and Crayola’s Pop Art Pixies.  I received both a Pop Art Pixies Gift Pack to keep and one to give away on my blog.  No monies were exchanged and no review or editing of this post were done by MyBlogSpark, Crayola or any PR companies. I always give you my honest opinions in any Royal Review post, that’s a Royal Guarantee!

The Eldest Princess as
a Pop Art Pixie

True confession time: I really don’t have a crafty bone in my body.  Last year, I was at a Women’s Retreat. I painted a flower pot . . .  and I’ve passed it off as a craft of one of the Princesses.  And since I lack the craft gene that some of my other blogger buddies do have, I often opt out of craft activities for the Princesses.  I don’t know how to best help.  I get frustrated, they get frustrated, and everything’s a mess when we’re finished.  And since I don’t exactly excel at housekeeping either, the notion of doing anything with paper, scissors, glue, glitter, beads, sequins, markers, stampers, even crayons to certain degree makes me break out in hives.  Don’t even get me started on PAINT.

The Eldest Princess
rocked this craft and
made fun jewelry for
herself!

So when I had the opportunity to review a new line of craft kits from Crayola specifically marketed at the Eldest Princesses age and stage of life, I thought ugh YAY!  The Pop Art Pixies are super hip chicks each with their own interests and passions.  AND not only do they have totally cool craft kits but also an online community where your little Princess (or Prince although most of the kits are pretty girly) can share her work with friends.  Kids have the opportunity to create an avatar, look for craft ideas, and get to know Skye, Tatum, Maya, and Naomi better.  And can even request friends, post pictures, and post their likes and dislikes.

Here’s what I love about the kits – they are easy enough that the Eldest Princess (who reads well and is 8) was able to make at least one of them without any assistance.  They are fairly useful crafts, too.  Necklaces, designer water bottles, an herb garden, picture frames, bracelets, stationery boxes, and more.  I can’t stand a craft that really has no purpose.  The kits do retail a little high for our budget but right now there are some great $4/1 coupons on Crayola’s Facebook page and last week Target featured a deal where you could score a $5 gift card with the purchase of two kits.  PLUS there’s one more great $2/1 coupon here.  We haven’t made all of the crafts yet but from what I’ve observed, they are fairly mess free and not over complicated.  I’m not overly thrilled at the idea of an open online community for girls of this age.  However, you can control the privacy settings as a parent and keep kids from getting in over their heads.

Time to talk about the give away!

Here’s what you’ll receive:

  • Naomi’s “Create a Stationary Box” Kit
  • Tatum’s “Decoupage Glass Plates” Kit
  • Naomi’s “Create a Color Glow Lamp” Kit
  • Skye’s “Create a Water Bottle” Kit

Here’s how you can enter to win:

1.  Leave a comment with which kit you think your little Princess would love the most.
2.  Become a Money Saving Lord or Lady in the Court of the Queen of Free on Facebook and “Like” Crayola, too.  Then change your status to “Crayola Pop Art Pixies and the Queen of Free are funky, fun, and best of all FREE! http://bit.ly/i5H0XQ”  Finally, come back here and leave an additional comment saying you did all of the above.

3.  Follow the Queen of Free and Crayola on Twitter.  Tweet “@crayola Pop Art Pixies and @thequeenoffree are funky, fun, and best of all FREE! http://bit.ly/i5H0XQ”  Finally, come back here and leave an additional comment saying you did all of the above.

The comments will close on Thursday, December 30th at 7 PM with the winner announced the next morning Friday, December 31st at 9 AM.  Good luck!
