Today, we’re flashing back to 2010 with this Flashback Friday post. I wrote these words nearly four years ago, in the thick of our battle of paying off $127K.
You’re worthless.
You have no value.
You don’t have a dime to your name.
Odd as it may seem, these are goals of ours.
Perhaps I should explain?
You see right now, we’re worse than worthless. We owe. We owe, we owe, we owe. We owe a lot of money to the Evil Sorceress Sallie Mae. And we’re sick of it.
We don’t want to owe anyone a dime. Sure we’d like to have a few dimes to our name – someday. But for now, we’d be content with having no worth. We’d be happy to owe no one and even if it meant having nothing.
The yoke of debt is heavy. We know it, you know it, we all know it. It’s the first thing that most of us think about when we roll out of bed. Otherwise, many of us would be much less compelled to go to work. It might be what keeps you awake at night.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. As you head into the holidays, keep the goal of being worthless in the forefront of your mind.
I know it’s what keeps us going in this debt slaying journey. Over $74K paid off since April of 2008.
Eventually we’ll be worthless. Hopefully not low down or no good but worthless.
