I LOVE the Indiana State Fair. If you’re living under a rock, you might not know that the Fair officially opens tomorrow on August 1st – wahoo! Come and find me on August 4th because we’ll be there celebrating the last day of summer vacation. For our family, every year we visit the State Fair, we can count on one thing – visiting the Pork Tents. I love all of the yummy fair foods but this destinations is a must, not a maybe. This year, I’m even more excited about that tradition. You see, ordering our favorite foods – like famous pork burgers, pork chops, pulled pork BBQ, garbage burger (my fav!) and the boneless pork chop – can help change our community, making the world a better place.
That’s because this year Indiana Pork has teamed up with the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to help fight hunger in Indiana. For every entrée that a customer decides to “make a meal” they will donate one ground pork meal to food banks across the state. The goal is to sell 30,000 meals which will result in the donation of 7,500 pounds of pork to Indiana food banks (WOW!). So you can eat something good AND do something good? I’m doubly sold.
