This July came and went without an Amazon Prime Day. 2020 has been fun like that. But the online retailer has only rolled back the bargain extravaganza by 3 months. Next week, the 5th Amazon Prime Day brings bargains to online shoppers across the US. Here’s what you need to know to make the most of the deals.
It’s Actually Two Days
This year, Amazon Prime Day is actually Amazon Prime Days – Tuesday October 13th and Wednesday October 14th. You’ll have 48 full hours of deals. That means double the lightning deals and more time to ponder your purchases.
You Need Prime to Shop
The deals are only for those who have an Amazon Prime Membership. If you’re looking to join up, consider a 30 Day Free Trial. The annual expense clocks in at around $119. It includes benefits like two day shipping, online streaming of videos, Amazon Music, Photo Storage, access to special deals and sales, and more. Amazon recently began offering a $5.99 Monthly Prime Membership for those who qualify for government assistance, too. There’s also a special Amazon Family Prime Membership and Prime Student for College Students.
Deals on Amazon Tech
Some of the best deals each year on Prime Day revolve around Amazon’s electronic devices. You’ll see the lowest prices of the year on the majority of these products. Keep your eyes peeled for Echo, Kindle, and Halo (Amazon’s new wearable fitness tech) deals. These prices usually don’t get any cheaper (even on Black Friday). We’ll be watching the deals for other brands, too. I’m already seeing early deals on Toshiba TVs and items like Shark robot vacuums.
Score Money to Use on Prime Day
Right now, Amazon is offering a couple of deals where you can score credit to use on Prime Day. Until the day before (10/12), if you shop Small Business on Amazon, you’ll receive a $10 credit to use on Prime Day. And if you spend $10 on a Whole Foods in store order via Amazon, you’ll receive a $10 credit, too. By the way, there’s also a $10 off $50 coupon code for Whole Foods now – WFM10.
Deals on Movies & Channels
Prime Video has joined the bargain fray this year by offering not only deals on streaming movies but also $0.99 additional channel offerings. But buyer beware, the $0.99 rate lasts only two months, so if you’re not prepared to take on the additional monthly expense, skip it or set a reminder to cancel the deal after it expires. The Amazon Kids+ Platform is also offering a 3 months for $0.99 subscription deal, too. Again, be smart about add-ons but these types of sales can allow you to test out a platform at a lower rate to see if you’d really use it.
Amazon Essential Brands
Amazon has jumped into the marketplace selling everything from diapers to clothing items. We’ll see the Amazon Essential branded items running crazy good deals during Prime Day(s), too.
Don’t Forget the App
If you primarily shop Amazon via its website, you may want to think about downloading the Amazon App. The app will feature deals unavailable on the regular URL and allow you to browse deals more effectively.
There Are Coupons!
Coupons make a great sale even better. And there are always Amazon Prime Coupons but I look for them to be next level on Prime Day.
This year’s Prime Day will feature furniture deals, deals aimed at college students, School Supply Deals, and much more.
